  1. Parts on Robotics/Electronics Class - How Would You Do It? · · Score: 2, Informative

Sounds like a good course... I wish I had something like that when i was in highschool :). Anyways, for parts, http://digikey.com/ is probably the best. You might also want to check out http://jameco.com/. If you're teaching robotics, you'll probably want some simple MCUs to teach basic microcontroller concepts with. I would suggest a simple PIC micro from http://microchip.com/ or better yet a BASIC stamp from http://www.parallax.com/

What a great way to stimulate people into writing
Perhaps if writers were motivated by considerations other than monetary gain the volume of good literature

  3. How real work? on Summer Businesses for High School Students? · · Score: 1

If you are young and want to make money during the summer, your best option is some sort of labour job. The world doesn't need more half assed business that don't serve any particular purpose.

  4. Canadian Privacy Laws on Canadian Recording Industry Goes After P2P Users · · Score: 1

The Globe and Mail also reported this story in today's paper. I think it is interesting that Shaw is attempting to use new privacy laws to protect the people in question. If the courts rule in favour of the ISPs, it will set a good precedent.

The Light Emitting Stick generates a current of up to about 10A

10 Amps ?? Is it just me or does this seem a little high to anyone?

    Darl's twisted world:
We're on the side of the silent majority...but at the end of the day it's around who's right. We're rock solid on our claims... and we're not sitting here day in day out trying to counter the stones being thrown at us. We have a business to run. Our roots in the Unix business are strong and won't be blown over by a little bit of Linux wind.

    Reality:

We're on the side of the silent majority
Actually, you are a vocal minority.
but at the end of the day it's around who's right
    True
We're rock solid on our claims
    Wrong
and we're not sitting here day in day out trying to counter the stones being thrown at us
    Wrong again
We have a business to run
    Not for long
Our roots in the Unix business are strong
    No, they aren't
and won't be blown over by a little bit of Linux wind.
    Yes, you will.

But if give people what they are asking for in terms of value, they won't go out and steal it. It's called trusting the consumer.
Perhaps they should take their own advice.
  8. "mind-numbing digital toil" on Giant Sucking Noise · · Score: 1

After that, simple service work, like processing credit-card receipts, and mind-numbing digital toil, like writing software code, began fleeing high-cost countries.
I see -- programming is "mind-numbing digital toil"
