Why wait for a proposal to pass when you can get HUGE tax credits for writing closed source software NOW? For example, Ohio gave a closed source company $82,386 to keep it's 11 employees in the state! (http://www.odod.state.oh.us/newsroom/releases/135 7.asp Third example, tax break + grants) Thats $7489 per employee now, not in some proposed future.
You don't make a killing by implementing trustworthy electronic voting. You make a killing by selling the presidency and other posts up for election to your friends.;)
Why is this modded funny? It should be modded insightful!
I tried to do the same exact thing for the same reason, but couldn't afford the additional education. I'll have to save for years to pay off a teching licensure, and then I'll make at least 20,000/year less
I think we may have missed the point here. I think the boss isn't arguing about life experience, but reminding the programmer that he is expendable. Subtler than my bosses "We can replace you with 3 Indians Tommorow" threats, but still, this is a threat, not a debate.
I had the exact same problem, except that the OO doc looked normal before an update to Word, and incorrect after.
Since then I just PDF'ed the file, and have never had any issues.
I'm in the same exact situation as the writer. I have this Ultra 5 that I was SO proud of when I bought it, and now it just irritates my wife. I keep thinking about loading Debian, but I hate to loose the ability to use my SunPCi Card.

Its not a real theater if your feet don't stick to the floor, and the employees aren't mean.
