Can you fast forward on a DVD? Yeah, I think you can.
Has the man ever watched a DVD in his life?
Q Let's restrict it to the MPAA. A I can't answer the question. Q Why not? A Because I don't know what the answer is. Q Do you understand the question? A Huh? Q Do you understand the question? A Not really.
This sounds like something right out of Abbott and Costello.
That was downright horrible last summer. There are few things worse than sweating horribly in a crowded el car on the hottest day of the year on your way to see a show only to find out half of the north side of chicago was without power. Definitely something you don't see every day. Luckily the burb I live in now has it's own power and doesn't rely on ComEd. I should hopefully have no problems this summer.
If he was able to harness the 1.21 gigawatts of a lightning bolt to generate the nuclear reaction to send Marty back to the future, surely he can help us solve a simple power problem. Someone get him on the horn!
There are often hundreds of responses of people saying "you are an idiot." Most of the responses are assanine "katz sux" posts, hardly a result of much thought and pondering. And no, I don't think slashdot's bandwidth is free, nor do I mail them checks. But hey, they think all music should be free, I think their site should be free. Surely you can agree with this, as Katz thinks everything should be free (sans his work of course, that deserves money).
MP3 is nowhere near CD quality and anyone who has a half respectable stereo system can tell. Highs are always cut off on MP3 and midrange's seem enhanced to make up for the lack of highs. I remember when MP3 first came out people would say it's BETTER than CD even though it was sourced from CD. Then people said it's just as good as CD. It's not, it's lossy, it will never sound as good as a CD. People just like MP3s because they can pirate them and not have to buy a CD. Same with this DivX stuff, I've seen countless people say it looks exactly like a DVD. I haven't seen it, but I know it doesn't. Just another format for cheapskates to be able to pirate things they don't want to buy.
206MHz speed Microprocessor will enable you to run any exciting application on YOPY. What about those boring applications that I have? Spreadsheets aren't very exciting, but sometimes the need does arise to make them, can YOPY run these less exciting apps?
Enjoy the game of 65,536 colors with powerful stereo sound. Personally, I prefer the game of 256 colors with the powerful stereo sound, but that's just personal preference.
You can enjoy MP3 Stereo music and improve foreign language skills. Apparently it's not very effective for learning English.
Not a flame...just trying to start the day off w/a little humor:)
I'm a fairly busy person, and to me this sounded like a godsend: I could tape shows that aired while I was at work or away on business or asleep, and stockpile them... then I could watch them (fast forwarding through commercials and deleting the rerunrs) when it fit my schedule.
So this device allows someone to record shows while they are not present and then watch them at a later date? Wow! I'm surprised something like this hasn't been invented a long time ago. </sarcasm>
Seriously though...I don't see a huge demand for these things. It's not a lot different than tape and you can't keep the episodes around if you enjoyed them, it's time to over write them with new. Sure it's easier than programming a VCR, but with VCR+ so popular, why subscribe to a service? I wonder how much TiVo paid for the plug...
I don't see how people who pirate music can be defined as "music lovers." When was the last time a car collector had a collection of stolen cars? Or to compare apples to apples, a movie collector's collection consisted solely of bootlegs? Never, a true movie collector has a virtual library of DVDs, Laserdiscs and *gasp* tapes. I consider myself a music lover and collector and that's why I have somewhere around 300 cds and virtually no mp3s, aside from out of print/live things. If one truly has a passion for music, shouldn't they be out supporting the artists they like buy actually purchasing their CDs, going to concert, etc?
people's desire to watch movies on their computer screen. How convenient is it to watch a movie with a bunch of friends huddled around a monitor? I realize some people ie college students may prefer this due to space constraints, but what other advantages are there? I'd rather kick back on a couch with a bag of chips and the surround sound cranking than sitting in a chair watching a movie in horrible resolution. Spend $15-20 and buy the DVD if you like the movie, don't settle for low resolution streaming media.
Last time I checked it wasn't illegal to make mix tapes/MDs/CDs of music that you've already legally purchased. I haven't seen an audio CDR that doesn't let you do TAO, have you actually verified that this Phillips CDR ONLY makes exact copies and that you can't copy track by track?
As the other poster said, the Genesis used a z80 for sound processing. I'm not sure exactly what that powerbase convertor did that allowed you to play SMS games on the Genesis. I know a couple of the 'backup units' used the z80 side of the Genesis for their menus and thereby allowed you to run SMS and GameGear games on it (GameGear also used the z80). The Gameboy uses the z80 and the new color Gameboy uses some custom z80 that can run 2x as fast as the original one.
Well, at school in my cell like dorm, I have a 20" TV. I personally find it more convenient to have friends over to watch movies on that, a fringe benefit being I can hook up VCRs and video game consoles. Also, with a stand alone DVD player when I'm at home I don't need to have a PC next to my TV. I guess it's all a matter of preference, I hate using my computer for anything aside from computing. That and I consider a stand alone DVD player more convenient.
to wanting to watch movies on your PC. Granted, I like to see Linux support for as many devices as possible, but I've always wondered why people like to watch movies on their computer. Someone clue me in, isn't it more convenient to sit around a 27" TV set with a bunch of friends and watch a movie than to huddle around a 17" monitor while sitting in your desk chair? What am I missing?

Clerks is available "on demand" to me. It's called the DVD and laserdiscs that I own.

I was just going to say that...the 4th picture down on the left looks a lot like an old IBM XT case. So that's where they all went...

That's grounds for breakup :) Is your girlfriend amish per chance?

Try using xset with the r option.

What RAM do you use that requires drivers?
