What, like A Walk in the Clouds? Keanu was awesome.
I happened to see that movie because I like wine, Napa Valley, and nostalgic movies. How many other/.'ers would have that strange combination of interests?
My favorite current robot authors are (no particular order): Charles Stross (Saturn's Children), Elf Sternberg (his A.I. characters in The Journal Entries), Piers Anthony (Split Infinity/Apprentice Adept series), D.B. Story (pretty much everything), and Scott Westerfeld (Evolution's Darling is an amazing piece of adult fiction). There are aspects of each of their robot story universes that I'd love to visit (in Charles Stross's case in robot form:^). I wonder if any of them are going to be present, or recognized, at this festival..
Certainly Google knows what the effects of being de-listed would be and as such they would have to know that this was not what the newspapers were asking for. It seems like an obvious case of malicious compliance to me but I guess we will see what the presiding judge says.
Possibly, perhaps even quite likely, Google doesn't have an in-between setting. They have to process an enormous amount of data very quickly in order to stay current. It is quite possible that Google listings are either All or Nothing. You're either listed the way that we automatically and without bias list you, or you're not listed at all. You don't get some special little menu of yes to this and no to that because we simply cannot afford to give such unique offers out to everyone who wants something different from everybody else in their court order.
You're in a maze of twisty little passages -- all different.
Any security claim that is solely motivated by child pornography I regard as bogus. Been to that well a few too many times.
One is certainly left to ask just how many child pornographers Michael Brown, sheriff in Bedford County, Va. has successfully prosecuted in his own law enforcement career? One is left to wonder if it is even a crime he pursues normally?
Would you want the government following you everywhere, taking notes of everything you do, all with the intent that they can later prosecute you for pretty much anything that they can come up with? And this extends to private companies and interests who should never have access to such data (RIAA, MPAA) now able to get it through the courts because it now exists in the first place? That's what this is all about.
It becomes an argument for anonymous browsing on everything you do, until they figure out how to either track, or ban, that too.
While your other points may be true, what makes you think MS is not a serious player in the market? They have a full blown product with 25,000 apps written for it, and are actively going to release a huge update this year and planning another one next year. It isn't some random patent troll in East Texas.
Microsoft is NOT a serious player in the Android marketplace. They're not a player at all. They're a toll (troll) booth collector.
Microsoft doesn't make any Android devices, nor did they provide any development assistance in writing it. Yet they feel entitled to collect money from all of us (it's not the manufacturer's who are paying this toll, it's the consumer). This needs to die a quick and final death.
For Google+ to become a viable competitor to Facebook, they have to allow what Facebook prevents, starting with adult conversations and adult material. If not, then why jump off the USS Facebook at all since you're going to have to convince your friends to follow you anyway.
What I want is a Chocolate Printer that would allow me to "print" any chocolate bar in its database - especially including the ones I grew up with that simply aren't available any longer. Of course it would need cartridges holding other than chocolate for the process.
The first thing that comes to mind here is that Intel owns process technology (3D 22nm chips) that no other company can produce. Unless Intel produces a line of processors exclusively for Apple's toys, other people could make products with Intel chips that Apple cannot reproduce until the rest of the semiconductor fab industry catches up in 2 years.
The USA has managed to stop payment processors from handling payments to gaming and poker sites. If they can do this then they can stop donations to Wikileaks and make it stick.
So who is going to be the biggest cash-grab fraud this year? Groupon or Zynga? Let me know when you're holding the empty bag and we'll party like it's 1999.
Why the limitation to only 10 gold coins? That seems stupid. It would seem to me that given that you can have unlimited characters under the cap anyway, that the more gold you accumulate, the more you're going to want to go out, spend it, become well-equipped, and then break through the cap and rise in the game. That means $$$ for Blizzard, so why the gold cap?
Seems to me that the solution is for a phone, instead of coming with pre-programmed gestures, simply has the user enter their own desired gestures for all common operations. And if a user likes pinch-to-shrink, well I don't believe Apple can patent that.
Upon its expected completion in 2016, FAST will be able to see more than three times further into space and survey the skies ten times faster than Arecibo.
Good thing that Arecibo has had a 53 year headstart.
Could this technology be sold to the rich, famous, and powerful? The next time you want to take a legal snapshot on a city street of your favorite star, might your iPhone suddenly refuse because they have a do-not-photograph beacon on their shoulder? Awesome!
Be happy that Apple patents this. That might mean that it will be limited exclusively to Apple products and that they'll sue any competing product out of the marketplace. I mean, who REALLY wants this in their next camera equipped product?
Ah good call. I should've checked the source first, too. Fox never gets anything right.
Fox gets far more right than you'd ever like to admit. Anytime you say "always" or "never" you're automatically wrong. Fox News is worth watching for the stories that they uncover that the rest of the media tries as hard as possible to Ignore. If you want to remain in your blissful ignorance you can ignore FN, since it is only for those who want to be as informed as possible. Without FN you might not have heard about this story at all.
Just another reason to (not) buy Apple in lieu of any other competing (cheaper, more flexible, less restricted) product in the marketplace. Can't wait to hear how the Apple Fanbois spin this one into making Apple products BETTER than anyone else's.
Before you know it you won't be Buying your next iPhone at all. You'll be Licensing it to use only under an ever increasingly long list of Terms & Conditions.

It needs a proper name. I nominate Kino.
Or does this law mandate that every computer require a valid driver's license to be swiped before logging on?
It will, soon enough.

DRM strikes again - and again and again and again...
And wasn't The Tariff Act of 1930 considered one of the things that pushed us into the Great Depression? Yeah, really good thinking there.
Too bad that Apple is admitting how they can't compete with their design and technology, so they will compete with lawyers instead.
Sad.

My one friend claims he can get to 85 in a day.
He must already have his own personal guild to carry him there.
