    I'm not understanding how this is any more vulnerable, unless you can predict requests.

    It is possible to snoop requests - no prediction necessary.

    This is an absolute disgrace for Apple. Admittedly the details of the hack were leaked out in the most stupid manner possible and the person who did it deserves to have their mousing hand cut off to prevent future such offenses, but there's simply no way for Apple to come out of this looking good and I'm very surprised at their laggardly ways regarding this issue.

    Oh, and you know this for a certainty that this will happen in exactly this way. That it happens to everybody. 550 pound (you did say 250kg) black guy (a bit racist aren't we being here). Everyone in prison meets this guy. And who does it to this guy, if it happens to everyone?

    You clearly don't know what you're talking about, what you describe says more about you than it does about the US prison system, and how you managed to find the 2 critical brain cells in your mind sufficient to post to Slashdot will forever remain a mystery to the rest of us.

    This sort of "speech" should not be tolerated anywhere. Womens' rights and their safety is far more important than the "right" for misogynists to remain anonymous.

    Using that logic I can make any speech illegal and exposed to retribution. Either Free Speech is an absolute right, or it is no right at all -- there is surprisingly little gray area in -between.

    Did he kill anyone? Did he maim anyone? Did he steal anything? No, no and no, so why should he be punished more than someone who did?

    And neither will he be killed, mamed, or stolen from. He took away the ability of other people to do their work, and he is losing his freedom in return. In fact, in terms of the person-hours impacted by this hacker's actions, his time in jail will be far less than the damage he has caused to other people -- meaning he's getting off lightly all things considered.

    I may be a conservative, but after watching in disgust when he made his impassioned plea to save his Bridge to Nowhere from the Ax of Excess, and how he'd have to leave the Senate if that piece of governmental waste was cancelled, I was shouting at the TV: "DO IT! DO IT! PLEASE DO IT! GET HIM OUT OF THERE NOW!"

    Unfortunately they bowed to his threat at the time.

    If the Democrats were as hard on their elected politicians as I was on this one, we could have a much better Congress than we have now. Having someone as a member of your own party doesn't make them wonderful. Sometimes they're just embarassing.

    What happened to proving damages?

    There may not be any damages at all. None of those distributions, even if they occurred, may have resulted in a single lost sale because people who download files may not have bought the song had the free download not been available. Then the recording industry is out zero money overall.
