6000 years is about the time anything lasts for. It just so happens that there are LOTS of things in the universe that were in their ~6000 year window for us to see. In another 6000 years the entire universe will have changed beyond our imagination.
I seriously doubt anyone managed to mung currency and insert a real RFID unit. What I do think however is that in a small percentage of coins they resonate at the same frequency as an RFID which would appear as though they were magical.
If you did infact hollow out a bit of a coin and replace some of the metal with an electronic bug the weight and bounce (striking against a piezo sensor) would cause such a difference any coin mech you inserted it into would reject it.
Bad choice of wording from me, but something has to glow pretty damn brightly to be seen at the distances we are discussing.
If everything was visible the night sky would be bright instead of dark. The illumination must be bright enough that we can see it at distance - its like us trying to see the lights onboard the ISS.
I've always been sceptical of dark matter as something mysterious. It's fucking obvious that if there is no light illuminating an object it will be dark. In this solar system there is loads of dark matter, unless of course people and most objects naturally glow.
The foundation does a good job and vaccinates people against diseases and lots of other things and they are being bitched about because they can't fix *all* the problems.
No Shit Sherlock - Gates might be good, but he isn't a fucking superhero.
No, how about simply have the security companies come up with a product which shares a central repository of signatures and available updates and make it a part of the wall of protection.
Since they will be connected to multiple other machines, they can detect spikes and irregularities and collectively brace together to at least slow down the spread until real support (signatures and/or patches).
Whilst I know certain factions here on slash oppose Roland's methods, he consistently uncovers decent relevant articles. If you filter out the crapflood of comments that follows one of his submissions here, you can tell the subject matter provokes us. I personally wouldn't be surprised if he (above others) did become a real journalist, he does have a knack for it.
(there are worse crimes than link whoring to make some pennies)
What if the CPU die was built on an open grid (like a gauze surface) Let the air come through from under the motherboard and straight through the middle.
Yes - the cooling unit is a few millimetres deep by about the size of the cpu, but the extractor fan and assembly requires a full sized cabinet for housing.
I recently signed up for the "send your name to wherever" thing pointed out on slash (its in my comment history somewhere) The PDF was formed with parameters linking to a second pdf base document.
From Firefox on Windows with internet explorer disabled the pdf opened inside acrobat then proceeded to display the resulting PDF file in internet explorer.
I haven't seen IE now for ages and that made me nervous as hell.
No you missed the point.

I also read the article and thought WTF.

Or can you just print your own gold?
The Recording Industry Galactic Alliance (RIGA) mandated that no radio signals shall leave the atmosphere of any planet.
The respective governments all attempted to stop this legistation getting in but the RIGA had bigger guns!
Of course not, the entire building is no smoking.
I just felt a shudder at the thought of an SEO "optimising" my cv.
Does that mean it will suffer the same fate as Pluto and become a Minor Nation?
That would explain why we haven't heard from K'breel or the Council of the Elders for a while :(

Will it totally replace the 770, or will it be a big brother?
I hope it brings the 770 price down a touch, its just over my novelty price bracket at the moment.
They could quietly grab the bookmarks from everyone as an initial base set of "quality" links.
;)
Then of course they would be evil and in direct competition with Google.
They already have the fox in hell, so might as well make him work

Think of it like the atomic dog in snowcrash.

Link to ubuntu or gentoo or something.
Decisions decisions
Do not look into the supernova with your remaining eye!
(theres a lot of bright shiney things around at the moment, I'm surprised anyone can see anything at all)
I hope they publically identify this vandal.
I hope he ends up being linked forever with this video so a name search comes up with it.
Shitheads like this deserve whatever karma comes to them in future.
anyway, back to bed.
I've thought about this as well.

I noticed this as well.
It seems more like this is propelled by hairspray than rocket fuel.
We want burning flames and heat haze not condensation and frost.
You are going to run out of fuel.
Land on the pad quickly.
I always wondered why I kept sliding out of the bath.
Now I know its just because my atoms all have the same quantum state.

No, but they did manage to find out which pharmacy he used by looking at the reflection on the windscreen of a car 3 miles down the road.
