Chinese input is the slowest I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong. I was born and raised in Taiwan, and the typing in mandarin is totally impossible for me. When I can type 5 words per minute, I can type up to 100+ for English characters.. that's something Mandarin can't beat. also, I don't really care what mainland China typing method is because I think Chinese Simplified is degraded ugly and crappy. Japanese typing is faster than Chinese because their characters can be accomplished with Roman phoenatics.
There is "speed panelity" with chinese character, and there is no doubt about that.

We don't want to be controlled by some big corporate like M$. Nonetheless, we are living in USA, and USA is full of laws that you can't just simply ignore. If you do, others can exercise the right to take actions against you, and in the end, it is the court decision and the law/rules that would prevail.

True. WinFS based on MS SQL codenamed Yukon is the second time MS tries to conquer what they were defeated in the past. I have bight vision that MS will make it this time. Don't bash Microsoft now. They are really working on a good OS this time. They aren't rushing out an OS like it used to according to Ballmer. It is highly possible that the release will be delayed even after 2005.

The new file system will classify files for you, from word document to mp3 files. You only need to type in keywords like "Picture taken in Feburary by John" it will show up a list of picture taken in Feburary by the name John. It is too powerful that Linux is still way behind.

If I put my own definition for OS and programming language, I wouldn't really consider that they are the same. Programming language is a tool that facilitates people's ability to interact with comptuer by creating permanent programs that you don't have to rewrite all over again, next time you reboot the computer. As for OS, well, it is a collection of programms and framework for other future generations of programs to run on. It is kinda like a cycle thing... Programming language => collection of programs => OS => a more powerful programming langauge tools => new born programs => Programming language => collection of programs => OS...
