we believe we can make some dents in the overall footprint and performance of the mail client by removing components and chrome we don't need We don't need? Is it the developer who decide what the end-users needs are?
As far as I can remember Microsoft has never followed any standards, don't see a reason why they should start now. They have always made proprietary software, and always will.
The reason Microsoft has such a large market share is because most PCs are shipped with Windows, most people don't uninstall it, and those who does are not really recorded as non-windows users.
I think this is about to change, main reason is that computer vendors starts more and more to sell their machines with free operating systems, mainly to lower the price i guess. Dell at least tried with freedos, but i think Microsoft bought them back. I know still that Zepto sells their laptops with Linux if you don't want Windows (norwegian webpage btw.).
When speaking of dying languages, you can look on the english language for example. More and more kids use expressions like "U" for "you", and "tnx" for "thanks". In my home country we have the the same problem, and we start to look on it as a serious threat to the language.
I think this will somehow make a change to future languages.
They should only be glad not to be coding cobol, intercal or befunge!

[...] excellent examples of good ways to use the Google API. [...]
I had never heard of a Google API, so I did a search on Google (hah), and found this. You can use it in your software as a nice little feature. Would it be nice to have a google search option in the help section of your next software project? I like that idea.
I just wonder when there will be support for Gigabit wireless devices in Linux. IIRC the support for Gigabit ethernet adapters came in the 2.4.x release.
They managed to port it for MacOSX, it shouldn't be too hard doing a Linux port as well, since OpenGL is not platform dependent. I really hope the rumors are true.:-)
I tuned in, and the first thing i heard was:
w3 4r3 l33t h4x0rz, y00 d00rz! w47ch 0u7,k? 1 h4x0r y00 b0x0r.
First this and now this! When will they ever stop?

I can never trust them again after this.
Were the only one believing the subject for this story was written in 1337?
This will be a great threat to all those weak-bandwidth porn hosts out there.

Does these things come with nethack?
If they do, they need much more than 10 days of battery time in order to complete the game.
Someone should post a bug report on their webserver first.
Slashdotted, yiah!
Is this the software Britney Spears used for her music?

Happy birthday Richard M. Stallman. :-)
Make Windows looking environments, they can.
Withstand the slashdot effect they can not.
I feel the force is not so great in this one.

Most people moving over to BSD or GNU/Linux systems do it because the are SICK with Windows. ;-)
