You are forgetting that we were the ones who made these animals what they are today. We are also the ones who keep their population up. I think it's better to not be born than to be born, be separated fom your mother right after birth, be plugged with hormones that make you too big for your legs, live a life of pain, then be killed (in many cases extremely painfully.)
In fact I think the merciful thing to do would be to stop eating meat and kill all of the domesticated animals in a painless manner.

Growing meat like this could potentially save a lot of water, energy, space and lives. I doubt it would be difficult to modify to modify the meat to make it more nutritious. The lack of fat might be a big issue as much of the taste of meat comes from the fat in it.
This could also mean disease free meat. One day people might be able to order a steak uber-rare and not worry about vomiting, death, or even worse... explosive diarrhea.
I myself am a vegetarian due to my having a conscience and a brain that just won't forget those videos I saw when I was younger. Well, that and I feel that us humans aren't really all that great of a species.... I mean, what species is stupid enough to pass on the genes we hate. We make glasses, fix deformities, cure baldness, c-section babies... while that's great for the individuals, and I'm not knocking any of them (I myself am not a very geneticly desirable specimen.) It passes on the genes that make those techniques required and thereby making the species weaker as a whole... Gah, getting way off topic again.
I thought everyone knew how wireless gave easier access to networks. Is there a way to simply put hardware encryption on every card, hub, router, etc.? I don't know anythinhg about encryption (or anything else, really =P) But would it be too hard to have hardware encryption that could be programed when the card is installed in the workstation.
I'll go back to my busywork and try not to think about things I know nothing about.
Once again, an excellent technology that has great potential. However, someone will abuse it. Be it criminals that are faking your print, gov't spooks, or even *gasp* companies.
It sucks that people can't just be honest.
Personally, I think I'll stick to cash when making purchases I don't want others to know about. And I'll wait for a number of years on the fingerprinting... see what problems might arise.
Well I'm not a big starwars fan, nor am I a big fan of fan fiction (how many times can the "fan" be placed in a sentence?) However, I feel the fact that this can be done is quite cool! I say, "More power to 'em!"
After all, bringing people together and sharing ideas and such is the best thing about the net, right?.. Well other than porn, of course.
I hate vaccuming.
I'm wondering how easy it is to maintain... Will keeping the robot running (emptying bags, charging, etc.) be less work than just vaccuming alone.
Also how well will it cover the floor? will it miss large spots because of charis and other obscacles? I'm not gonna have to go in after it and vaccum spots it missed, will I?
I think a two screened tablet would be much more successful than single paneled tablets. People like to be able to look at two pages at once. When comparing documents, looking at one page and writing on the other, skimming the two pages. Geeks that are used to computer screens may be just fine with single panels, but the general public tends to like things as they are right now. I think this'll actually be an important step in getting the public to accept tablets.

Yeah, and cash is so much cleaner... I know I throw all my bills and change in the washer.
heh... money laudering... heh...

do the laws of other countries apply to the US?
If so I hope China doesn't go after a US citizen for running a pro-democracy journal.
