    I think we shold use licenses that works, GPL works better than the other... GNU/Linux is the example of what GPL can do;)

    I agree. I loke SGI and I think is the only company that have changed its mind in GPL dirction (no SGI-PL, G-SGI, OPEN-Sgi:...). Thanks for your work Sgi.

    This is the same discussion about BeOs: I think something is good and something isn't in that OS but the point is that they are proprietary OS. If your OS is not GNU there will be a date in the future that it will be dominant, if it is good ;), in the market and the price raise without reason, it start to crash too much often..... This is true, more or less, for every monopoly!IBM->Mac, Mac->PC, Unix->NT

    Right, but I think the new processor(amd register aleron.com:)) will have the same performance of K7 and we wil see K7 whih more cache and more MHZ.

    I think that the problem is the performance in
    distibuted DB, like the one you need in this kind of environment... but a distributed FS may solve the probem:))

    Take a look at this chart:

    I have supposed that the increase in speed is liner (but it is less than linear, K7 increase 7% in perf whit 9% in clock ).
    We can see that in "real game" K7 15%-20% faster than PIII with TNT and 28%-35% which V3000 :). It's
    impressive how faster is K7 with a GOOD 3DNow! optimized driver (we know that Voodoo is)!

    I think I have been a little bit misunderstood. I don't like it ( but it's no so bad) I say that is yet another non GPL OS and MS could kill it. I would say also that alternatives OS, like *BSD, have to thanks Linux for their good trend.
