  1. Re:what difference does it make? on Hackers, Spelling, and Grammar? · · Score: 0

there is a grey area i agree, but in my previous post i used "your" instead of "you're" and you knew exactly what i was trying to say. when i read something i don't take the literal meaning of the letters in front of me, i also hear the words in my head. You also have to take into account what makes sense and what doesn't. for example, "your not ready" doesn't make any sense, but "your're not ready" does, and anyone who points the fact that you misspelled "you're" is only doing it to bust your balls about it, they know what you meant, and so does everyone else.

yeah you need to use proper grammar and spelling in official letters and memos and things, but when your just commnunicating an idea from yourself to someone else, if you both know what your talking about, then what difference does it make if you misuse a word here and there, its the same reason we use "lol" and "IMHO" and other acronyms rather than full words, its not because we're lazy, its because it gets the idea across, at least thats how I feel about it.

and thats fine for those cats in india that are just workin on em, but for me and the other ten million gamers out there, I think we're got the power to keep MS afloat. Without them pc gaming wouldn't be what it is today and, despite they're shortcomings, they've done a fine job. Its the same reason cell phones are as crazy as they are today, you can get a phone that just calls people, or you can get a phone with games, a datebook, camera, calculator, etc. Yeah, theres a market for phones that "just call poeple" but thats not what people want. They want flash, they want zing! And these little "solid state" computers ain't got it.

well if im not mistaken, you just lost a sale because you freaked out on that kid, even though he was gonna put it online, he was still gonna buy it from you. CD's are yesterdays news, if you compare the weight of it, an iPod with 500 songs on it weighs a hell of a lot less than 500 songs worth of cds. I'm not sayin piracy isn't a big part of the problem, but you can't go blamin some 14 year old runnin kazaa for your failing business. It's the specialty market you have to cater to these days, start sellin vinyl or somethin, something you can't download. I admit, I dont buy cd's anymore, hell I dont even burn cds anymore. If I need to take my music someplace, I drop it on my mp3 player, or on my jumpdrive and I'm out, and I don't have to carry around a 48 slot faux leather CD wallet and try to remember which cd has what song on it.

Think of it like this, imagine one of those bins at the grocery store where you drop off food/toys/etc.. for people who dont have any. The grocery store has little control over what you put in there (by that I mean at the time you put it in there), but if a ton of people started throwing dog food and cat litter in there, the grocery store would for damn sure do something about it.
