I disagree. Ubuntu has always been wonderful at giving Linux a friendly face. I don't see why this would change anything. If you don't like it, use debian or mint. Let Ubuntu go in it's own direction. They may realise it's a mistake (spatial nautilus) and revert. Don't look down on them for at least trying to innovate instead of churning out the same shit as everyone else.

They were talking how an entirely redesigned framework (gtk1.x > gtk2.x or kde3.x > kde4.x) was unnecessary. What this looks to be is a redefinition of what Gnome 3.0 will be. It looks more like its now going to be nothing more than a continued evolution of the 2.x series. Nothing earth shattering. At least that is the way I am interpreting this news.

On the contrary, I find KDE to be rather daunting when looking for an option. True, Gnome isn't for everybody but I find it to be the most productive desktop I've ever used. I have used it on my work PC for the last 3 years and never missed any feature. It is fast, stable and convenient.

Does one REALLY need a hardware raid card on a home network? Software raid will work fine. I agree that if you are going to have more than a few PC's on your lan hitting it simultaneously you will want a hardware raid but if you just want a network attached storage solution for 2 or 3 PC's on your lan, hardware raid is overkill.

Everyone has their area of expertise. Just because most people don't give a crap what OS they use or what Processor they have doesn't mean they are stupid. Do you know what kind of pistons are in your car? How about the type of transmission fluid? What type of brake pads? Get it? Just because you are a geek and spent the time to learn this stuff doesn't make YOU smarter than anyone else. You are just interested in different things.

How about this. Go buy a new Mustang from the local ford dealer and take it to the drag strip and run it to redline over and over. Then when the engine blows, take it back to the dealer and tell them to replace it. Let me know if they actually do replace it or laugh in your face. Point is, Yes, it is legal to unlock an iPhone but it is in no way Apples responsibility to support it unlocked. You are using it outside its intended use. Stop bitching if it breaks. Or, just don't update it. There are ways around this.
