That's a nice idea. But can you point to a collection of Representatives, Senators, and a President we could have elected over the past 12 years that would have prevented this?
I live in Québec and because of those law I can't purchase product from the local store because the box is not en French. It happend to me last year where I purchase some headphone (nothing fancy there were even NO paper in the box to explain how to plug it). But since the box wasn't available in French, Best-buy would not have the product, online I could see it but they would refuse to sell it to me if my address was in Québec.
So I've went to competitor in Vancouver that is not affected by Québec law and purchase it.
Result? The law has remove a sale from my local store and move that else where.
Yes, yes, we all remember the news stories about The Great Lost Headphone Sale of 2012. We don't need to be reminded about that calamity.
The pained facial expressions when they refused were interesting, though, and reflect the problem with a surveillance society in a nutshell.
Stupid reasoning. There are plenty of other reasons these people might not want to publicly comment. The most likely is that they're not authorized to speak for their employers, and fear rebuke or dismissal at their workplaces if they speak publicly on the topic.
I've seen an absurd number of stories on this topic, probably ever since the Hour of Code crap started./. would you please give this topic a @#$% rest???
Picture an American who can not survive on wages picking fruit being replaced by an illegal immigrant. The American ends up on unemployment, or disability or welfare. the farmer hires the illegal worker for one third the pay and the tax payer pays for the American worker who is idled.
You've captured what drives me crazy about the Democratic talking points on illegal immigration. They act like it hurts no one, and that it's okay to help some people on long-term welfare when there are jobs they could be doing.
I think you're oversimplifying a little. He doesn't necessarily need to stay put. What he really needs is to not incur much additional risk to his income or to his time with his family, if he has one. That might be possible while changing jobs. Especially if he's marketable enough that, if laid off, he could almost certainly find another job soon after.
I know I'm not the first person to think of this, but...
The more external influences we see on brain function, the less sure I am of how appropriate it is to hold people responsible for their actions.
For example, if child molestation is something one is predisposed to after being molested as a child, what's a just punishment if/when that person him/herself goes on to molest? Or, in this case, if ones gut bacteria makes on prone to certain behaviors, for example stress --> violence (not sure that's right, but just for the sake of discussion), should we hold every to persons equally accountable for having a violent reaction?
How nice it would be to have some one-on-one time with the engineering team that covered up the flaws in the containment vessel during initial construction.
We can't fail to mention iTunes: - Indecipherable navigation model - when it gives you a -50 error (unknown), its authors don't give a crap about figuring out the, no, scratch that, your, problem.
So as luck would have it, I'm one of those unlucky individuals for whom several vertebrae are deteriorating and/or growing bone spurs as I get older.
On thing that's surprised me is that it's not very common for surgeons to simply replace natural, deteriorating vertebrae with custom-shaped artificial ones. I don't know if it's because the surgery would be too complicated, or what.
But given all the problems for which 3D printing seems to be a solution, I'm hoping that it will hasten a fix for my back issues.
I agree. But my point is that the public and activists are perhaps barking up the wrong tree when they focus on just packet throttling. I.e., they should maybe be focusing on anything that an ISP can do to favor one content provider over another, even if the mechanism is something other than packet throttling.
I've heard that Netflix has a caching server that it will happy colocate in the ISP's sites, so that Netflix customers can get good streaming quality without the ISP incurring massive traffic back to Netflix's CDN(s).
Now suppose I start my own company that competes against Netflix's streaming service. Is the ISP "throttling" if they accept Netflix's cache server in their network nodes, but won't accept mine? Or what if there are 10,000 would-be Netflix competitors - do all ISP's have to host 10,000 cache servers, all on the same terms?
Actaually, as a father myself, I'd find protecting my family to be pretty darn motivating. In fact, if you look at the story lines for a number of games, they involve protecting children, even if the actual gameplay is somewhat divorced from that.

I don't think "free" means what you think it means. You're probably looking for the word "socialized".
To whoever modded the parent: You keep using the word "Troll". I do not think it means what you think it means.

Each of your points is easily refuted, but your post is so juvenile that I see no point.
You've captured what drives me crazy about the Democratic talking points on illegal immigration. They act like it hurts no one, and that it's okay to help some people on long-term welfare when there are jobs they could be doing.
No argument. I just think in this case, you over-simplified.

Anything to incite civil unrest against a group of people(no, the government doesn't count) and lies to discredit people.
Those should be disallowed.
Anything else should be free game.
The problem with that standard is that it gives anyone who chooses to act "incited" the power to censor anyone else.
Humanity.
Does anyone know if/why Netflix doesn't just have CDN servers located directly on Verizon's network?
It seems a little moronic to stream stuff from far away, when Netflix's streaming content is a large but basically fixed quantity of data.
Well, crap. I was taking an antibiotic this week. But not it's starting to sound like genocide.

Right, but my point was that the ISP can still do things that favor one site's performance over another, even if they're not throttling.

Dammit, your post is such a mixed bag I want to mod it with a complex number.
The accomplices were the perps who violated our Constitution. Without them, Snowden would have had nothing to expose.
