Well, here in Bangalore, you get a nice single bed room apartment for about $40, a good lunch costs you 50 cents and a bus ride across the city costs you ONE cent. For $5, you can travel almost 400 miles in train...what if you get paid $1200 per month. Remember, that country side all the figures above are atleast half the price.
Wakeup buddy. Its just like saying there's unrest in US cos for the last few centuries people all over the world have been flocking there for a better life?.
Wake up buddy. What do you mean by 'lack of innovation'?.
Indian as well as the multinationals here(intels, ciscos, HPs, Sonys, TIs..you name it) are developing next gen stuff.
Imagine buying a PDA with handwriting recognisition (several local languages...not just english) with built in phone, web browser and coming with a detachable printer, all for about 50$. And the best part, the hardware architeture is 'opensource' to foster development. That's just one of the products we developed, besides several wireless and multimedia microprocessors in the pipeline. Wanna learn more about India before you sing the old song?.
Am Indian. A Hindu and an upper caste - a brahmin to be precise. And work in an IT company here in India. So are most of my friends who did well in college. The reservation(remember its not all seats) for lower caste students did not deter neither me not my friends from getting into well paid jobs. Remember, the caste got then INTO the college...no rule says that due to caste they can get OUT successfully;)
Most of them ended up scoring a pass class marks and into a government job just reserved for them.
While the rest of us did well in our studies, finished our graduation with dintinction and the IT industry, where you get job purely based on merit, offered us great opportunity..unlike the older generations where you had to work with a dumb boss even after doing well in studies.
Infact the IT ia helping groom brilliant minds, giving them hope of a bright future. FYI, most of the big guys in top Indian companies and also the ones you meet in US are from upper castes and humble backgrounds. The former ex and present CEO of Infosys, India's top respected IT company are brahmins whose parents were low paid school teachers.
Wake up buddy. India is a free country first. The caste based system has existed for thousands of years...even while your forefathers even knew what civilisation is. Its not like the white vs. black problem which you people got in last few centuries.
And if you feel most of the upper caste are already in US, don't get upset. We are a 1 million people country and most of the people already in US or IT for that sake studied without any idea of such terrific rewards. You just wait the brilliant minds yet to come;)
Vijay
I agree..cost of living in third world countries(atleast here in India) is increasing. But then, it will not reach anywhere comparable to that in US.
Talk of a hearty meal in a decent restaurant costing you equivalent to 80 cents or a decent 2 bedroom appartment costing about $80 per month. A ride half way thru the city in the crowded public buses costs me 10 cents. It will be many years before these basic commodities will become anywhere comparable to the developed nations.
Criminals are made to spend time in prison to reform. If we are to say that even after the serving the sentence the person is not reformed, then we are calling the judicial system wrong. Then why the hell did the prosecutor get the 'criminal' the sentence in the first place. A felon is also a human who did err. Who doesn't?. OK some may be small or ignorable, but when the price is paid why run around calling names?.
People..either you are not Indian or haven't heard of the term 'red tape'. No. Am not talking of the famous shoe brand, but am referring to the full time job of n number of bureaucrats and illiterate politicians who are the decision makers. They see only $$ and as you know M$ has already 'donated' some. Don't call me skeptical. Am tell ground reality. Visit any 'computerized' and 'modern' govt. office. You will get an impressive set of software and hardware which the market stopped used a decade back. And guess what..they were 'installed/developed' just than few months back. Seeing all those govt. officials attending foxpro, DB2, WordStar trainings make me sick...and the only reason they signed for the training in the first place is the salary hike and a free ride to the state capitals(where else can such obsolete softwares taught??). Only hope people at the top like Mahajan(IT minister), Karnik(NASSCOM president) have some sense and strength to overcome these babus.

Well you are dumb enough NOT to see the difference. In many ways we have a better work and living conditions than yours. Wanna see?.

"eh?". Pity the silly reasons people find to prove themselves better. No..they can't stop us being a better nation. Can they?. Grow up. Give it up.
Wake up buddy, we have more english speaking graduates in India than the whole of the US population put together.
