  2. Re:The way of electronic steering? on Electromagnetic Suspension System · · Score: 1

I think this system will be beneficial, actually fantastic, in the fact that it can make sure there is no wheel hop or skip, it will provide superior traction to 4 all wheels better then conventional suspension systems. I think with this system you will still have a feeling of the road below, that would almost be next to impossible to eliminate this feeling unless the thing were flying above the road (no contact with the road). I think what Judg3 was talking about with the electronic steering was the fact that on some luxury cars equipped with oversteer protection (like some of the flagship Mercedes have) help in situations where people had a tendency to over control (emergency "oh shit" stages of problems), the computer would kick in and actually avoid this, creating more traction and allowing for a more efficient turn, then allowing the person driving to oversteer. The same thing can be said about ABS, I tend to think normal brakes are better then ABS if you know the technique of keeping the wheels rolling by applying the right pressure (I actually think a very responsive pneumatic system will eventually replace the 'pulsing' of ABS to give constant breaking power to the wheel instead of brake tire/roll tire/brake trie/roll tire... the thing would find the force needed to keep the most friction to the brake pads while allowing the wheel to slip (abs actually locks the wheel momentarily, then releases). The thing is for the average person these technologies will help out, and even for experienced people in emergency situations they will help out, lets face it computers have quicker reflexes then people we are talking ms vs human reaction time. I think that computers will benefit the masses, but I think race cars drivers would definitely NOT want these systems replacing their experience, but lets face it, even in F1 computers are showing up more and more in the cars.... Well the reason is quite simple actually, cause I am out of a job, and I can't afford to make less money because the cost of living is much higher in my country. I'm just trying to point out a fact this is bad for the country outsourcing, not good like this article is depicting.

  4. How is this good? on Outsourcing is Good for You · · Score: 2, Interesting

How is outsourcing beneficial at all in the long term? To me it is a short term solution to increase the stock value of a company. I don't know if it is just me that thinks this, but it seems to be like the middle class America is disapearing, does it not seem that outsourcing is to blame for this? To some degree I can see some jobs getting outsourced (like Levis jeans for instance) where a developed country such as the US is wasting resources, this won't hurt the economy, but when companies like Nortel Cisco and IBM and pharmaceutical, and R&D companies start outsourcing university level jobs, this is a problem IMHO. Take a look around, the middle class America is slowly slipping away.

Are you kidding?? OK.. I know this has nothing to do with mandrake (which btw I love too), (this is a new thread) but knoppix has shoved gimp/open office/kde developer/KDE 3.0/and a whole wack of other goodies onto a CD that doesn't need a HD to boot off of and only 96 megs of ram to work with.. that is NO HD.. and only 96 megs of ram... hmmmmmm.. yeah knoppix is a joke. Knoppix was doing everything for me that with no HD that a bloated Mandrake software 9.0 can do.. Anyways I have used mandrkae ever since version 6.0, and I bought version 6.0, and even then mandrake was a good distro... (about has hard to install back then as slackware is now) and that was over 3 years ago... not bad... :)

CD's are waterproof... only sunlight really destroyes them. It is the devices that read them that need to be made waterproof. YOu could easlily construct a device that is waterproof to read a book, howerver I don't think the point of these plastic books is the ability to read them in the shower.. I think of more like the ability to survive a rainstorm in a soaked school bag, something which an E-book on CD is capable of doing.. I can see for a diver how a plastic pocket guide book might be usefull, but that is a very small market, and if you can make a pocket waterproof PDA this might be more usefull and more compact for divers.. I say for the average person CD's are still better ideas..

Why plastic... why not just make E-Books. you can fit a book on a CD (which uses minimal plastic), or download from the Web to your HD.. EBooks are great, they are searchable, printable, and fit in a small space, and have minimal environmental impact to manufacture. I think plastic books are retarded... Gutenburg is dead people... time to move on to the electronic revolution, we are still stuck in the industrial revolution.
