I can't picture a gaming market without Nintendo. Mario, Zelda, Metroid... all classics. I got the cube when Metroid came out, and I'm glad I did .. it is superior to the PS/2 in many ways.

I just wish the plethura of games that PS/2 and XBox compete with also appear on the cube (and further systems).

It's not the fact that this sort of thing is just in chips, but it's in almost every part of society.

There are many tyrannical and/or dictator-like people in the world. We don't even realize that because they don't sit on top of the world's second largest (i think) oil fields.

There are other reasons too, but let's not forget that Bush comes from big oil. We are now looking for Oil in africa, despite the poor governments that exist there.

    This summarizes the oil situation.

I am referring to any society/culture that does not live in harmony with nature. Not to get all native-american on ya or other aboriginal society, but there is a clear disction to be made: humans lived for thousands of years without destroying the earth. We (meaning everyone from the past 2000 years, or even more recently) are screwing that up.

Take a look at ishmael.org, Daniel Quinn breaks it down into Takers and Leavers. aka, Gorts, and Gortbusters.

In regards to the other species, we should note that given the natural course of history the planet's natural animals are huge dinosaurs. They lasted for millions of years, the earth was a jungle planet for longer then we can imagine.

Aren't there other means for chip production?

even since the dawn of mp3s, I think we've all had that little feeling in our stomachs that the days of CD sales are limited. It wouldn't ruin the industry.. there'd still be concerts, music videos, and merchandising.

But what would be the main delivery of the art [music] to the public?

It is certainly difficult to say.. 20 dollars for a CD with 12 songs, of which 2-3 are usually "good". (poor generalization) Is it web radio or some other streaming service? Possibly.

Maybe 'albums' need to get bigger, like DVDs that include music videos. Traditional CDs are sold more like singles - very cheaply.

  15. Re:Java hype on The Future of Java? · · Score: 1

Yes, Java hype is very bad. Whenever I took a java course - in college or from work - it would always have an introduction to a section.

The introduction went something like this:

"This is possible using programming-language-X but has these sort of things that make it annoying for the programmer. Java provides the best solution for Y."

The J-Books (java books) would do much better to just present java's solution to a given problem or technology space, rather than trying to convince me to drop everything and make me a jdeveloper!

Shouldn't the other living beings on this planet be considered a network of life? That will be the first step to assure our survival on this planet.

It's true... managers aren't interested in all the fancy technical feets that can be accomplished. The bottom line is they want to make money, and certain buzz words will move them towards different technologies. Java, .NET, both buzzwords. My guess is that a lack of knowledge in both will yield a 'who cares, just do the work' attitude. If they have a background in one, they will probably be slanted in that direction.

There is always cultural influence. Notice how sex was taboo in those times. Then just marital sex, then premarital sex is okay. Now we have premiscuous sex in almost every tv show and movie.

Some doctrine apparently changes and other do not. But 'turning the other cheek' was so core, I didn't think it should have been changed if you were to take it as an ultimate truth - something that defines a Christian. If it is not this, what else is it?
