Family Guy was canceled, but reversed years later due to DVD sales. So buy up enough DVD's and the execs will reconsider....
I think part of the problem with Enterprise is that it is a step backwards, not forwards for the Trek universe. Trek needs TNNG (The Next Next Generation).
So does anyone have good ideas on how to get CFIUS to block off-shoring deals because of National Security issues?
Long term this is a REAL threat to American Security. If we lose our technical edge we lose the technical military edge Rumsy is so proud of (for all the wrong reasons).
In my corp. environment. We decided it was worth buying Apache from Covalent just to not have to build and maintain all the GNU tools on solaris machines.
Yes the GNU tools make Solaris more useable, but its easier to get our Unix support group to support RedHat than to support GNU tools on Solaris.
My digital camera (Kodak) is so silent that other people can't use it. If me and the wife are on vacation and want someone to take our picture, they take 3 or 4 and then say "Its not doing anything."
It does click, but apparently not loud enough for most people holding it up to their head to hear.
Why should you need to know Java to set up, configure, and maintain a webserver? Do I need to know mechanical engineering to drive a car? Do I need to know video encoding theory to watch a DVD?
I am a programer and a webserver administrator. I must say that while Apache has the best documentation I think I have ever seen. Tomcat has pretty close to the worst documentation I have ever seen.
Fortune 500 web administrators are not programmers who know alot about Java. (Sometimes I think most of our "java developers" are not programmers who know about java.) But they shouldn't have to know java to configure the server or do basic maintainence.
I don't remember a time when Slashdot people didn't complain about a Red Hat distro. There were always people saying that "Its not easy enough for my mother to use." Or "Its too much like Micro$oft, I'm going back to."
Gees you guys don't get it when someone is supposed to be funny?
But also its not impossible to do this in the real world. There is a security company that does not allow windows machines to connect to its corporate network at all.
In the Real world the school can require the students to buy a particular computer. It might be a windows box, an Apple, or linux.
I remember a school that required all CS students to have an Amiga!!
Years ago (6 to 8 years) this was the prevailing attitude, even in big research Univerities. Its not just MS that spreads FUD. I find lots of Unix people spread FUD about Linux, too. Some because they are just repeating what they heard, and others because they are afraid their 10+ years of Sun experiance is slowly going down the drain.
A year or two ago I did google searches for a place to buy vt100 or equiv. terminals and could not find one. It was even hard to find on ebay, which isn't an option for most companies....

Nothing on the link to the phone taps company told me it was controled by foreign interests.

So is this legal under the DMCA? Someone just had to ask.

Just don't allow Windows boxes on the network. Problem solved....
