  1. Re:API in C major on Tucows Opens Domain Name Registry · · Score: 1
They are already planning on doing this.

    From their Client FAQ page:
Our current development track includes a NT DLL Client for OpenSRS. We are planning to ship Perl "wrapper" functions for the actual C function calls for the Linux/Solaris environment, and see no reason why we should not ship something similar for the NT environment.

  2. WinCE?? on Color PalmOS Devices Soon? · · Score: 1

I think this is a good thing, and I hope that they use this new found power wisely. It would be so easy to go down the WinCE path and just paint pretty pictures all over the place. Yuk.

Who thinks they will "enhance" the GUI? Given their track record, I think they will be OK. Oops, it's not their track record is it? It those guys over at HandSpring that created the Palm. Hmmm, maybe the Palm will hand grenade itself...

  3. Re:music without words on Ask Slashdot: What Music do you Code By? · · Score: 1

Yup, I have to listen to something without words too. Also, my office is kinda noisy, so shoutcast comes through perfectly. live365 has a couple of really good techno that is great to code by.

  4. Re:No Fear on Games Drive Wider Linux Adoption · · Score: 1

It's amazing how this all changes given enough time.I, as a former/current Amiga user, remember all too well the snide comments from the PC crowd."Get that gaming machine outa here!" & "Come back when you have a real computer, not just some over done console with a keyboard".Well, back then as now, games push the technology farther than any "business" software can ever do.If my machine can run Quake3 @ 100FPS what do you think it can do with Word/Excell/etc.!!

So, I am happy & excited that games are making thier way to Linux.I have been trying to decide whether or not to install NT on my new BP6, but have decided to go with Slackware.NT is NOT gaming friendly, but it appears that Linux IS gaming friendly. How nice!

Yea, but will 3Com come out with a Palm that's compatible with the AirPort? I can connect to a Palm with my Rev B iMac; my buddy at work can't. :(

IMHO, IRDA is out and 802.13 is in!

  6. Re:Apple is fun on The G4 and Apple's Second Coming · · Score: 1

    Here here!

I look forward to the day that I can put BeOS on a modern, cheap, dual PowerPC (courtesy of IBM?). I like my dual Celeron, but I would *LOVE* a dual (or triple) G4.

Hmmm...I guess I am a geek. I love the chip, not the computer. Oh well.

They might have supported Linux in the past, but here it says the "The Linux Installable CD offer has been discontinued".Hmmm...Doesnt look good to me.

  8. What about Quicktime Streaming Video? on Ask Slashdot: Multiple Webcams and FreeBSD · · Score: 1

Didn't Apple just make Quicktime 4.0 GPL and available on Linux? If so, couldn't you just set up a couple of Linux boxes each connected to a couple of cameras all running QT4. Then stream the video to the web server and out to the web.
