Most XBox games hove *not* had PC ports.
Except Halo, Grand Theft Auto (in reverse), Knights of the Old Republic, Splinter Cell, Morrowind, Metal of Honor, Max Payne, Unreal Tournament to name a few.
Overheat? Isn't it meant to address leakage not just thermal issues? Your logic also is flawed in that you imagine a worst case scenario that you can not describe and then due to this scenario choose a non-exsistant solution over one that exsist today.
If only that was funny and not a possibility... The implementations do seem to be quite different one is software controlled and available today (LongRun2) and the other is material based and will be available at some time in the future...
OK look fine and good but OJ and the Betamax vs. VCR thing are topics I don't ever want to see aired in public again, ok? If it weren't for the Mozilla chapter of the IE vs. Netscape thing it would be on the list as well.
The idea is an armed pilot or copilot that will not the leave the front of the plane, if the hijackers were to get into the front cabin the pilots would use the weapon they had as a last line of defense. However your comment is accurate in this sense once we knew that hijackers didn't just want some hostages we were able to fight back, it is doubtful that another 9/11 style hijacking would be successful again, hell due to the cell phone they were unable to use the 4th plane as a weapon. And the debate about arming pilots is really low on my list of most support to stop terrorism stuff. I am a strong supporter of The Patriot Act and Ashcroft.
Seems like fair use to me... Which is it today copyright good or copyright bad? Of course many people here understand that law and copyright law in particular are what allow Linux and the GPL and copyleft to exsist in the first place, other well they are drifting a sea or moral relativism...
However, such an argument fails precisely because a gun couldn't have stopped two airplanes from flying into the WTC.
Yes it would have in the hands of the pilots and copilots of those planes.
The only reason I can see for this being on slashdot is the possibility that the NY Times (which is linked to all of the time) has some agreement with slashdot, this Luskin attacked one of their columnist and they are fighting back slashdot style? This stuff is silly, is there a tech site like slashdot that is not owned?
You have to keep the barrier to entry for small/indie startups in almost any industry as low as possible. For instance let us say you start an online video or audio site (inet radio for instance) that only uses truely independent non-signed talent and content, you should be able to operate such a biz without being constantly hasseled and legaly threatend by the current large incumbents in the field. This is very important if you want true capitalism with creative destruction and all that good stuff. So you have to be careful that the only goal is to stop piracy and not to destroy alternitve legal competition.
I think everybody should have free speech, the right to vote (secret ballot), the right to own property, the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. So to answer you question it would be freedom for the people of the world from any government the would deny them these rights.
patent-pending online "Allowance" wait I am pretty sure my parents gave me an allowance when I was growing up, now it wasn't online, but, or is it ok to have patents on stupid stuff if you are Apple?
Quite frankly for straight tech news without commentary and without NYT this Wired that check out Google Tech News. A great range of stories with out all of the same new outlets being mentioned again and again.
there aren't really any new checks to make sure that the government doesn't abuse its new power They still have to go in front of a judge that is a check. Maybe not a new one but still a check.
I would never support a law based on the support of the current people in power, things just change to quickly here to do that, and it is intellectualy dishonest.
But a roving wiretap is just common sense, if I am investingating someone and a judge is convinced that I should be able to monitor them, then I should be able to do so in all circumstances. The Right to Free Speech means that the government can not take action against you for what you say, but they may still know that you said it. You have to have the courage to speak out if you see a problem and live with the fact that people know you said it.
I really appreciate you comments they are quite interesting and know that I understand that governments go overboard all of the time. I have police officers give me a hard time for parking too far away from a store, no law being broken there he was just trying to impress the fat cow working at the store I was going too.
It seems strange to expect a right to privacy in a public facility. Terrorist were using cell phones to avoid the FBI, when the FBI or other agency would get a wiretap on one of the numbers the suspect would just get a new cell phone, the government is just trying to keep up with technology and the tactics of the enemy.
Chill, Patriot act has nothing to do with giving the FBI the right to wiretap you line, it just modernizes the ability to wiretap a person instead of just a line. It also treats terrorist as gangsters, which makes sense. The FBI can tap you if the get a judge to ok it. Now that doesn't mean they have the right to stop a technology simply because they can not tap it. They would have to convince the government to take action.
A 75% average overturn rate is crazy, as is allowing people to use infrastructure that the did not build. Allowing them equal use of right of ways and the like is a good thing, but the idea that they can just use equipment that somebody else paid for is crazy. But I guess if a judge thinks somebody calling me to offer crap is free speech anything can happen...
Nothing wrong with Underworld, I have been trying to get to the movies to see it myself. The people here who hate every movie that comes out and would judge you because you go and see a fun flick are one of the problems with this site, that and the spelling police.

Seems like a lot of work when the could just license Long Run 2 technology from Transmeta.
How about a two button scroll mouse... Stupid comment I know but we can get 1000 comments on this topic if we work together...

Since when as the truth been needed for mainstream newstory?
It should Linus used to work at the company that made the CPU.
Not running AMD or Intel so heat should not be a problem, Transmeta time baby!!!

Dammit my bad I searched for Run DMC instead of Run-D.M.C or Run-DMC...
No Run DMC a major hole in the service.
