is that it is all the week that we don't hate the Republicans... Today, Senator Coleman announced he will push legislation this year to reduce the penalties for copyright infringement and also press for changes in federal law to require judicial review for subpoenas. Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan) has already introduced legislation aimed at curbing subpoena power, but his version only received "lukewarm support" at a Senate Commerce Committee hearing last month. Coleman did not provide numbers for the revised penalties, but he believes the $750-$150,000 per infringement is excessive. from.

Good point, I must have mis-read your comment. I agree with you and follow the following investing rule:
Sell a stock when the CEO retires to pursue other interests and the stock as is at or near an all time high.
In the case of Einstein we had the common sense to not try and make a genius fear for his life. Another smart thing we do is to never fund groups that want to kill our customers. Also our PR firms would never make an add as horrible as the dam Mentos one.
A corporation must have ethics or it can pay a huge price. The loss of customers, stock value, and reputation. In addition to making money a company has to stay in business. TomRC good point about the Remote Desktop, however the context was: Conversely, when I look at the price tag for any Microsoft product, it just makes me cringe. Look at the Microsoft Word license which is about $500 or $600 per machine.
Maybe this is the retail price for office, but when the alternative is free I don't see the need to over state one's case.
I got Word '97 in the Microsoft Works bundle a couple of years ago for $79. But as you have shown yourself XP Pro is $380, still to high but less than the $600 figure quoted. I do think DRM and activation could be the straw that breaks the MSFT back if not done correctly. When a company reaches a certain size they almost always do more damage to themselves than the competition does.
We do print more money all of the time, I think it is called increasing the money supply or liquiditiy or something like that. In any event wealth is created, the velocity of money can mean that the same dollar goes through many hands. Taxes, regulation, litigation, and idle wealth are the things that hold back an economy.
Conversely, when I look at the price tag for any Microsoft product, it just makes me cringe. Look at the Microsoft Word license which is about $500 or $600 per machine. Most people made that work by basically breaking the law and installing it at home on all of their machine.
This is total crap right? The you get the whole office suite for $600 or much less in an OEM bundle, also you can get Word by itself for much less I think.
What could be worse than a method which increases the returns on spam?
What could be worse, oh how about giving them free exposure on Slashdot. I can save you the time of RTFA, just target aol users.
Look how in the world would this be considered educational? Hey skip the Physics we are going to role-play like we are hot pop stars! It just gets old thinking crap like this is worth learning. In know way is this activity a valid educational exercise.
In no way is the FCC over stepping it's authority on this issue. Clearly telephone communications fall under the FCC and this is a voluntary program. I can see how people have to right to free speech in a public forum, my home is no such forum.
I live in Seminole County Florida and we used optically scanned paper ballots, like those answer sheets in school that required a number 2 pencil (of course for voting pens are used). They are easy to use with the names on the ballot right next to the box you fill in. The results are read instantly when inserted in the box that holds the ballots, when a recount was ordered they just ran all of the ballots through again and had the results ready in a few hours. We have had this system for years (at least 10) and have had no problems, it is an easy answer to all of the issues that we are seeing with low-tech and high-tech voting machines. It provides a physical record and does not produce hanging chads.
RHAT IPO'ed.
RHAT is profitable.
Is this a sign that the American system allows for competion even against a company with over $30 billion in the bank?
Yes. So drop the monopoly / too much power non-sense and get back into the ring or in front of the compilier.

Do you close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears when watching the TV, in case any ads get you?
I change the channel or mute the TV when a ad starts, as do most normal people.

20 million now if invested in a diverse portfolio including stocks, bonds, gold, and property would be much better than 40 million over 20 years.

I thought President Clinton signed a law making digital signatures legal in the place of physical signatures.
