"You are confusing "is" with "should." Just because something is just so, does not mean it ought to be just so. This is no argument at all, in favor of or against anything."
I am not confusing "is" with "should." I was making a statement about what Microsoft is actually doing in comparison to the rest of the business world. I made no statement (go ahead back and read what I said over for once) about what Microsoft should and shouldn't be doing. The original comment was trying to make the case that Microsoft was somehow doing something that warranted a particular focused attack on their company. What I was saying was that in this particular instance Microsoft is doing something that is a fairly standard business practice and thus, singling them out (in the way in which the poster did) is not fair. The fair behavior, if one has a problem with Microsoft's behavior, is to criticize the current nature of capitalism - not to single out an individual company. This is why I didn't feel like responding to what you said. You accused me of making a statement that I clearly, to any asshole that can read, did not make. I made no comment about what Microsoft should do but merely a comment about how what Microsoft is doing is a fairly standard practice and not something that would warrant any type of investigation for misbehavior by the government because it is a common industry practice. In conclusion, you are a whiney liberal asshole that only reads what you want to read. You decided that I was taking a position on whether or not capitalism should function the way it does when in fact, I have not made any comment about that - even up to this point. You are a fucking jackass and I hope you have a nasty case of diarrhea tonight.

Remember the censorship of Mortal Kombat I that Nintendo forced upon Acclaim? First of all, a mom and pop operation couldn't have that kind of sway with other companies but we'll ignore that. Remember when Mortal Kombat II was released on the SNES with all the blood intact? Nintendo took a beating on MK I and lost ground to Sega with that one. I guess mom and pop's moral righteousness fell by the wayside when it affected the almighty yen, huh?

Man, I can't believe someone would consider Nintendo a mom and pop operation. That's just so ridiculous. Listen, just because a company isn't Microsoft, that doesn't make them "good." Do a little bit of research before you spout off.

This is an amusing statement to me. You say this like Microsoft is a single person. Microsoft can develop their own titles but, from the sales and results of MS's game division, they realized that the collection of talent that Blizzard, etc. had already bought was better than their collection of purchased talent. MS employees get paid just like any other programmer. A company pays their employees. You buy the talent whether you buyout a company or you hire new programmers. You're so offended like this is some type of strange practice to you. Sony has purchased gaming companies in the past in order to stabalize their consoles. It is a smart business move and not that surprising. Yes, Halo was not released for the PC or the Mac. This is because Microsoft is trying to get an established base of XBox owners. They are struggling to keep their foot in the door and so they want real reasons that someone has to own an Xbox and can't go anywhere else. And let me break a little bit of exciting news to you; a lot of business transactions actually involve the resale of products. So Bungie makes Halo and Microsoft sells it to you and you're offended, right? Well, you're forgetting that Microsoft sells it to Best Buy, EB, Babbages, et al and then they sell it to you. Those bastards at Best Buy are just buying products from other people! They're not developing their own titles! They're just using GASP! money to buy titles! Oh my dear lord! Woe is me! As some of you dorks may know, today is the day in which the AFC and NFC championship games are played. This year the Eagles and the Bucs are squaring off and in the other game the Raiders and the Titans play. Now, in the interest of promoting heterosexuality and general manliness, I will tell you about these games.

First of all, the Bucs are shit. They have always been a shitty team and they always will be a shitty team. There is a reason they've never won a Superbowl and it is because residents of Florida are most interested in the Dolphins and their college teams. The Bucs are a minor league team posing as a real threat. No one cares and so management doesn't actually take themselves seriously. The owner of the Bucs sort of giggles every time he trades or releases a player. It's like he's snuck into his dad's office and is playing as businessman. There's no reason to think that the Eagles-Bucs game should be anything but a huge fat can, of the worst possible kind. Things will get ugly and quickly, believe me. The reason to watch the game is because this is what men do in January and you are afforded a chance to enjoy some beer and some chips. Again, this is what men do. Besides, the ugliness may roll into the stands and some poor souls could be dismembered, raped, perhaps even subjected to a beheading. This will be enjoyable for all involved. Now, let's move on to the Raiders-Titans game.

We all know ("all" meaning all straight males) that the Raiders are made up of very old players. But these aren't old shitty players; they are future hall of famers. These motherfuckers can play and play they will. Steve McNair, while a good quarterback, is still soft and fragile. Romanowski will punish him for being so vain as to think he can lead his team to victory in the Black Hole. He will be destroyed and torn limb from limb. To put it simply, the Raiders are the lions, the Titans are the Christians, and Jesus is out to lunch. I predict the Raiders will win by a margin of 14 points. Bet on it or you're a homosexual.

Finally, you may be wondering; who will win the Eagles-Raiders Superbowl? Easy: Raiders. Bet on the Raiders and bet heavily. If someone offers you money on whether or not Jerry Rice will score a touchdown, drop his pants, and defecate on the field - take Rice to make it happen. The Raiders are unstoppable this year. They will destroy the Eagles. McNabb will take two snaps and then suffer a career-ending injury. There is nothing left to hope for if you are an Eagles-fan. Take solace in the fact that the Raiders will fall apart in the off-season and be lucky to make the post-season next year. That is all my children. Stop being dorks and watch some football.

Without any definitive proof of this, the author is merely picking at straws. How does anyone know where the clunkiness of Windows comes from? I mean, the NT kernel isn't exactly a slouch and I'm not sure that Linux is vastly superior. How are we to know that the windowing system isn't the problem? Perhaps the real Operating System-type services provided by the kernel are faster and more powerful than the ones provided by Linux. We just don't know because a separation of the windowing system from the real OS isn't possible with MS's closed source system. Thus, this argument isn't really credible to make. It's an interesting hypothesis but there's nothing solid to say, "Yes! You're right!" There's really no way to know which underlying OS services are better provided by XP or Linux.

Let's be honest - if you google on Linux, you get information that says FREE SOFTWARE. Managers can do this much research, and no more, and will be confused about the "free" aspect of Linux. This amounts to a product driven by people who are advocating open source and the free distribution of products.

A manager would much rather spend money and get a lot of Microsoft product than try to understand why Linux is free. I don't care what you want to say, the savings are too great.
