We got rid of the digital because the channels it added sucked as far as I was concerned, but as far as price goes it only added like 12ish to our bill. It was slow as hell though, and ordering pay-per-view was always breaking.
Finally I have the chance to spit out my MS-Comcast and the XBOX taking over the console market theory. Comcast is the country's largest cable provider, and 3rd in ISPs I believe. Comcast + Microsoft = loss leader XBOX/set top box, which means soon MS(soon) owns the console market and has a new media distribution platform in the living room, and it's all on a controlled piece of hardware so they can DRM all they want. Brilliant!
Now I will go actually read what this article says...
The people who are going to buy into this thing in all probability aren't actually going to use it, they'll use their real PDA, or their laptop, and then drive off in their Hummer H2.. I hate rich assholes, and products built for them.
that this thing is going to sell very well. It doesn't even look like it would be easy to use. And as I recall the battery only lasts like 48 hours. I wonder how they ever got this idea to market...
I like Dev-C++ a lot. I am taking C++ in school this semester and have been using it because I have no access to VC++ at work, and it's great. Actually as far as I can tell if you aren't doing C++ dev that is Windows specific there would be no reason to choose VC++ over Dev-C++.
In my limited experience with RH9 they had covered most of the bases as far as GUI config stuff goes, but those frontends could definately be more intuitive and less prone to crashing. I'd actually rather see the current GUI config things mature a bit rather than adding more new ones.
Since I am guessing you know how do you alias commands in windows. I want to be able to type ls when I am at work, as it is now I end up doing ls, remembering I can't do that in XP and then typing dir.
Everyone should game like I do. I wait 5 years after release and then I go buy it used. I get fantastic performance for little cash. Good things come to those who wait:)
I get the impression the submitter is asking about windows, because as you have pointed out anyone who's used Linux for more than 10 min has figured out download.com isn't good for anything.
When I was taking VB6, which was unfortunately required for my degree, my teacher was sitting in class one day 'coding' something, and someone asks him what he's doing. And he says with a straight face "I'm writing a screensaver that will display pictures from a directory and after 5 pictures it locks up and they have to pay me $30 to continue using it"
That is still around isn't it? I never really liked Tucows much, but I believe that whole deal continues to exist, although they might charge for all I know.
yesterday that I have entirely stopped going to download.com for anything. I used to hit that site several times a day. Now I either search for what I am looking for (either app name or what I want it to do) on google or check versiontracker/sourceforge/apple. But I definately use google to find free apps more than anything else.
I actually read that rumor somewhere, I think it's unlikely but then again I thought the "17 powerbook rumor the day before MWSF was bullshit..
I would think power consumption would be an issue as well with the G5, but that's just a guess I don't really understand or know anything about process. arch.
I thought the current Windows TCP/IP stack was their own now, and no longer BSD code. Maybe I am wrong, but I am pretty sure I read that somewhere.
WinMe actually is very secure, there is so little time between blue screens that it's near impossible for anyone to get in.
The box didn't cost us anything, it was leased I guess. And as far as I could tell the quality was the same as the regular cable.
I know. You have to remember that here in meatspace I don't get to talk to people who actually think about MS/Comcast synergy with their spare time.

You could try to prevent your character from ending up as the butt of many jokes, choose not to be in a TMNT movie, something..

for a second there that Excite had created their own Acrobat Reader-like software for OS X...

I just thought it was weird that dude was writing a screensaver that's part of Windows already. Who the hell does he think is going to buy it?

I think this might be why this system would fail. Everyone would be talking about how funny what they thought inkblot x looked like was.

Offtopic, but I like your sig very much sir.
I think it's gonna be a while before we see G5 Powerbooks. Probably more likely to see dual G4 Powerbooks than G5 PBs in the near future.
As an American I hope I am dead before this country falls, cause that's not going to be fun for us Americans.
I haven't seen anything that would motivate me to switch from OSX.
