If it wasn't for some quirk of fate, the "sperm that became me" would have missed its target. If it wasn't for some quirk of fate, I might have died from a heart disease soon after I was born...

I think it's safe to say that as long as the parents actually love little Johnny, the psychological impact will be negligible.

It's a good hook, well lit and right at eye-level for a lot of people.
Unfortunately, he has chosen a way that we have seen a lot of authors go down recently -- slam the Linux community and watch what comes out. Constructively written, this could have been very informative, and I urge the author to try to formulate his thoughts in this manner.

Maybe not beautifully translated, but perhaps somewhat clarifying. It seems to me that this underlines that he was not tried for this charge, and therefore we can't really tell wether or not he was guilty.

BTW: An IFPI lawyer claims that "the court has not properly understood the technical details of deep-linking etc." (My free interpretation, just heard this on the radio).

``Based on BYTEmark integer index processor scores.''

Pretty small font. Pretty much at the bottom of the page. Now I might be missing something here...
But these benchmarks seems to be a couple of integer algorithms. My points regarding this are:
    • Only integer performance is shown. That means there is no telling what for example 3D rendering performance will be.

    • These tests were not done on Intels home turf, which is implied on the G4 page. Apple could easily optimise these algorithms for the G4.

I don't doubt that the G4 is damn fast, but Apple seems to have a preference for beautifying the truth somewhat in these press releases.

There's a couple of points I wanted to make:

Filtering software is not inherently evil, but when it's enforced on others by someone who doesn't realise that all filtering software (AFAIK) is flawed, it becomes a problem. And none of the makers of filtering software will educate anyone on this, because that would obviously make their software look bad.
Open Source Filtering Software, anyone? It's an ugly job, but someone might have to do it... ;)

Also, (and this isn't for you, perhaps for other parts of the slashdot readers) don't push parents into buying computers for their children! It's not essential for any child to jump onto the latest media form, in this case the internet. I don't believe that owning a computer as a child automatically gives you the intelligence to be able to use a computer for a better purpose and to a better result than someone with real intelligence. Such as someone that has been raised without a computer but with someone who knows how to stimulate their intellect.

Ultimately, it all boils down to the fact that there are no magic bullets when it comes to parenting.

(I've gotta go now, but I hope that I haven't left anything out that makes this hard to understand.)
