BZZZT, no jackass, you lose. His arguement is this:
Please feel free to provide substantive evidence for your two assertions above. Amaze and demystify us all and provide references in peer-reviewed scientific literature, if you can
Not to flame or anything, but this whole "give it to private ennerprize and not pollyticians" bit is so damn naive.
Private enterprise won't go anywhere there isn't a profit. And a large one at that (now that the dot com era has jaded investors) and one that has payback within a single quarter.
That's why there are no private space companies and not because "NASA don't want no compateeshun..."
Furthermore, if you've ever worked for a large corporation (i.e., the only type of private organization with the financial resources to pull off a private space fleet) you'd know that they too are run by politicians. CEOs and all the senior management are absolutely no different than your typical congress critter. They're cut from the same cloth, have the same mindset, and perform the exact same function as do the members of Congress.
Why not use a ablative system with a STS reusable plane model? How you may ask? Well the ablative shield could be formed like a shell that the space plane could be bolted into, literally like one's hands could fit into a glove, i.e., slide the space plane into the ablative shield and then bolt it in. The space plane would then re-enter the atmosphere sheild first (thus the atmospheric drag would push the shielding harder against the space plan body).
Once back on earth the shield could be detached and replaced. I think this would be much safer than the current thousands of small tiles system that's currently used.
Sure, that's why everyone who handles plutonium either does so wearing hazmat suits or remotely via robotic arms. 'Cause it so harmless. You are a brainless twit.
Oh, and the link you gave is little more than some half-wit's pro-atomic power website. It provides no independent references to the validity of it's claims or to the supposed challenge given to Ralph Nader. Tell you what, I'll take this "Dr." Cohen's challenge and ingest twice the amount of caffeine as his ingested plutonium. Doubt he'll take me up on the offer though.
GAHHHHH!!!!! This has been done for over twenty years morons!!! But it's plain ol' FM analog transmission (with multiple failover channels) rather than digital. And there wouldn't be much advantage to wireless digital even if they could fix latency problems. The analog system works just fine.
NoNoNoNo! It's not the Dutch, it's those damn bloody Belgians! God I hate them....
Well if your a Druid or speak Gaelic then the name of this planet is indeed named after a goddess, Gaia.

My wife and I were having problems in the bedroom, that is until the new Ronco "hydrodynamic penetrator". Now we couldn't be happier!
That's a really great idea! Your absolutely right that they'd have a volunteer line miles long. Hell, I'd be in that damn line too.
