not exactly, quake 4 will have even higher system requirements (256mb min, 1Ghz min, etc) and will feature things like vehicles, unlike doom 3's mainly indoor gameplay.
"When asked by an audience member about what the status was of the Nerve Software team based multiplayer game that was announced at QuakeCon two years ago, Hollenshead dodged the question somewhat, saying only that the game was in some sort of development but that no further news on that project would be mentioned until a more formal announcement is made."
when the plans for doom 3 were announced (or was it when quake 4 was announced?), there was mention of a specifically co-op game to be developed using the d3 engine. its in an old press release from a year or so ago iirc.
it will be interesting to see what id does in regards to third party deathmatch models now its all per-poly hit detection; officially approve good ones, leave it up to server admins, or third party sites like poly count..
i remember learning how to tell the time and what materials were conductors or insulators in fun school 3 on my amiga 500 when i was 10. man, those programs were a great helping hand..
computer storage could easily store the full text file of a book years ago, so why didn't it take off like movie piracy did when computers got powerful enough?
yes, book piracy on some scale is inevitable, but given the fact that its incredibly time consuming to 'rip' a book, compared to the time and effort it takes to rip a movie or music track, and given the fact that for many many people the charm in reading a book is that its on paper and it can be taken literally anywhere without them worrying that the batteries might run out, i don't think its going to impact that much on the book industry.
there are serious flaws in experiments like this, mainly the fact that its not done in a controled envoronment (not that any tests like this would be done in a controled envoronment, because its not really that good for kids to lock them away for ten years). the fact that all of the kids would still have access to everyday culture and society would very much skew the results
"shunning social activity and losing one's temper easily"
if that happens, maybe thats a sign that the kids are fed up with the consumerist society they live in (esp. in a contry like japan), and are making use of the only good release they have access to; gaming?
i would have thought thah trying to defeat the more prevelant and damaging stereotypes which lie behind sexism, racism, homophobia, ablism, agism, etc, would be a more worthy task. do gamers really feel that prosecuted?

that's the fake quake 4 model that was around a while back, and its based on the official concept art for quake 4 that was released in 2001
and the half-life 2 rolling demo specifically shows of all the amazing new new engine features with commentary
thats not a rolling demo, thats only a cinematic trailer that says nothing about the actual gameplay of doom 3
id software are not doing themselves any good by not releasing doom 3 teaser vids like this. bad marketing tactics imo..

If estonia can do it, why can't Iraq?

because america is calling the shots in iraq?
uh, in most countries, workers already have the right to take holiday.
kazaa users can set themselves up as 'supernodes', so they'd have a lot of ip's to block
