Actually after reading the story I must con cure: We use a chemical name scheme based on a study by our head-sysadmin. But on top of that we use a (read CNAME) secondary name scheme based on functionality. E.g. ssh.domain.object. thus ssh being the means of access. This might include nxserver unless you have a windows server too. Then would introduce a new name (CNAME) called rds (remote desktop service) rds.domain.object. Idealy the port of entry should discriminate between services. Anyway, just my 2cents, A univ. sysadmin. ps. This is not the best way to deal with problems. It all depends on contexts!
On the internet there are these courses, e.g. RCNE Redhat Certified Network Engineer. These got some nice textbooks. Besides that, on slashdot there are many discussions about free textbooks for schools regardless the subject thus take a look at that!
Hi,
Being a sysadmin at a univ. I had encountered this problem before. The solution is twofold: Screen and No-machine's NX server. The latter is a Xvnc like connection based on ssh. It works fast (very usable on a xDLS) and save due to ssh.
Have a nice day!
I think it all botlles down to the consent what terrorism really is! The definition of terrorism that is. I think it geographicly differs!
Just my two cents:)
This article (well maybe not this article, but same research) was posted on slashdot about a year ago. Thus is this research a nice copycat or just a person who hasn't done it's homework?
Still nice development.

Take a look at NXserver from No-machine
