i got a nano f217ex at home. its quite a beauty. crisp, sharp, even bearable looking at it in 60 hz. I'm guessing the thing is 5-7 years old. I'm not using it right now though, its too big for a dorm room. (but next year when i get an apartment....)
Right now, I'm using a 15 inch sony. not too bad. and i thought i was going insane when i saw lines buy my roomate said "nah, you need more sleep"
2.88 is DEAD;
Yea, i once had a 2.88 flopppy drive, used to carry around a 2.88 floppy but never used it (nobody else had a 2.88 drive.)
My only reason for having a drive was because routers at work used 2.88 floppies to boot (1.44 was too small to vit all the data ont0)
now, the drive and floppies were gone. dumped them with my p-100 box.
In my opinion, I hope never (because I have a bet going with my roomate.)
Here is the bet. cure for cancer first? or finding ET first?
I run a United Devices client for cancer research, he runs SETI@HOME.
And those who say I am biased...I've listened to ArtBell since 7th grade (in college now).

Agreed.
For about a month, I tried explaining what linux was to Matt. One night Matt wanders over to Tim's apartment. Matt sees Tim running a Linux box with gnome.
Matt comes running to me. I want linux on my laptop like Tim does on his comp!
oh boy...is he in for a disappointment.
So why did Matt want a linux box? Well simply because he wanted to look "smart" and since he saw Tim's linux box in a highly useable state...Oh would matt of been surprised if i whiped his laptop...
I gave him a user account on my box.
next thing I hear from him: "linux sucks...its all text and I cant do anything!"

Here at UCR (UC Riverside) there is both proxy and VPN authentication.
Using the proxy, I'm passing clear text (yea, its kinda scarry at times...but I'm not THAT parinoid. Well, for me, proxy is the way to go.
Using the proxy may be insecure, but it doesn't requre a constant connection.
If I put the laptop into suspend, or I'm simply in a weak signal area, then the VPN falls apart and I have to re-authenticate myself.
When i'm simply in a weak signal area, it gets quite annoying.
AAAAAHH! (like homer simpson would)
Alright, did a google search..clicked on the sponsor page (yea, gotta support my favorite search engine)
and I learned something today. =)
Eminent domain is "When a condemning authority uses eminent domain, its main focus is to complete a project."
heh, I see the irony of the parliament takes away its own domain name, then gives it back to itself!

wait, then that means government becomes GOD over the people. its no longer a parliment for the people, but a parliment for itself...and they just tax the people to death. (um..glad to be an american..)
I'm sticking in ATI's defense. When I got a dell insp 8100, i had 2 display choices. a gf2 or a radeon 7500. In looking at the benchmarks, the Radeon won hands down.
As for crappy drivers, I feel the ATI drivers are stable (as well as the rest of the machine). As of this typing, the laptop hasn't seen a cold boot in 13 days and 10 hours.
I am able to play warcraft 3 at 1600x1200 res with no problems, and UT2K3 at 1200x1024 with full detial and frame rates in the teens (I prefer high pixel over frame rates).
Yep. I got a 3x nec drive sitting around. It was external scsi. The thing is like purple-grey and has a grey button on the front, lid pops up.
Its "portable" and had a chargable battery (I think...)
Anyway, I didn't buy it. I got it from a friend when he sluffed off a P-90 onto me.
As for the scsi controller, its being used now in my desktop controlling a 12x cdr drive.

Put those tapes in an NSX and I'll drive the tapes cross country for free. (you pay for gas too=) I'll keep the latency at a minimum.
