This is targeted at end-user programmers. The reference to Java / C / etc. is done with out explaining the target audience for these debugging tools. The connection drawn was inevitable, this is just a good example of the contrast in completeness between refereed journals and popular publications.
There have been a number of papers published by this group in places such as CHI that are more complete.
But he mentioned that now this is all done in user space.
That would circumvent any harddisk encryption or raiding since by the time the data was retreived and verified it would be in a readable format.. Andre mentions that in previous plans the process was the DRIVES responsibility.. but here he counters that.

You also write _MUCH_ more readable code when you do this;) it's a requirement of swapping between 5 projects that you are able to _figure_out_ ( not remember ) what you were doing. -Largos
>IS that noteveryone will have a gene sequencer on their desktop..
no, but simply by havign genes should make that a bit of a mute point. You can indirectly use a companies product and they will still profit from that use, for instance, visiting a site that is hosted by a windows machine, you have no real choice in the matter if you have to go there, but M$ would not be making money off of servers if noone used them. If we all up and died then gene testing wouldn't be worh much either. The fact that that isn't a viable possibility makes this area potentially very powerfull.
I had the opposite opinoion of programming when I started. The Last Think I wanted was a WYSIWYG editor ( ala VB ). I also didnt start programming until much later than some, my freshman year at HS. ( I am a Sophmore at Oregon State now ). But I felt it was very important to understand how the visual editors worked before I could allow myself to use one, ie: I wanted to make windows from source before clicking them into existance.
What sort of board do you need to actually _use_ this thing? what does it plug into? does that daughter board allow for cards? Also.. it's video restrictions might keep it from really drivin a few markets. It supports AGP some how though, perhaps there is a way to connect a good video processor? 4mb video memory isnt going to play much of a game of UT _or_ let you walk through a house in realtime.
I am working on a design for a computer desk that will work on a number of moving areas for holding computers / keyboards / mice, monitors, to capitalize on space constraints. I would love to see these racks if you couls snail mail photos to me I'll scan them and get the files to you and pay postage. What happened to the wearable computers that were being worked on so feverantly a few years ago? I recall numerous ideas for incredably small displays mounted on glasses, or projected on the lenses, ect. I even saw a p-200 for sale w/ a cylindrical keyboard and available eye piece ( for ~$20,000 it was a _full_ computer ) I'd think these things have come a ways since then..

Have you ever wondered if the whole point of humanity is to be assimilated?
>Stupid people amaze me. Yeah, like that guy who thinks that headlights can give you better vision than night vision. Military pilots can LAND using night vision. I believe the only problem is viewing signs.
--- Military pilots have an entire array of informative widgits other than nightvission for use when landing.. not to mention the IR rig they have is ( I'm betting, send me a URL w/ proof if I'm wrong ) far more advanced than that of any publicly available car. ( barring special after market enchancements, sure anyone w/ a few mill can get there hands on a high grade IR setup and rig it to their car ). And you have to be liscensed and trained to fly by instrumentation before you can legaly do so. I as well fear the person who assumes they can drive with out paying attention to the "real" world.
I have the same mom. situation.. it drives my roommate mad, need an ip/phone #/hex string? I can help 98% of the time. but I cant get in my car w/ out returning 5-6 times to get forgotten items before I can go anywhere.

I revel in the fact that fewer people want to kill me than Bill Gates.

Couldn't that imply that they all bow down to some "First Marketing Guy" who created all this stuff in the first place?
hmm....

Has this been ported to everything yet? Sounds like the natural thing to do ;)
