Then again, I always thought changing the verbiage from "Infammible" to "flammible" to appease the ignorance was a profoundly idiotic move... I don't think that misspelling a couple of words qualifies as verbiage. That's a language joke. Get it?

That's lazy logic. The fact is that perhaps we could save more lives by having different laws. Especially in the case of Marijuana laws. Think of it this way: If the law saved 1 life, but a different law would have saved 10 lives ... I digress.

It's ignorant to compare spamming to pot use and underage drinking: the former being a business model and the latter being recreational activities. (to most people at least, some people are business like about it)

There's not a whole lot of money to be made in smoking pot or drinking. If spammers are fined for spamming ... guess what? They'll stop doing it, because they are no longer making money. Is that so hard to see?

Someone mentioned that they would just go overseas to do it. Well ... go overseas. That makes it easier to block at least. (i.e., block the email from the spam friendly nations.)

The fact is that developers can now start recommending Linux. Anti-Linux / Pro-Windows people can no longer use the excuse that Linux isn't an "approved" OS.

Surprisingly, it can be hard to convince most people in government positions, civil service, military, contractors, etc., that _we_ don't want to pay for Window's licenses, and _we_ don't always need to spend waaayyyy too much money on waaayyyy too much hardware.

This is great news for people that work for the government. Kudos to IBM for footing the bill on this, as it is an expensive process.

I'm concerned about the recent increase in GPL stories lately where companies that are embracing Linux are being carefully scrutinized.
This is FUD. Companies don't support linux because they want to be community friendly. They do it because there is a demand and they want to make money. If they are going to profit from GPL code, then they should follow the terms of the license agreement. It really is that simple.
