I've often wondered about the electronic signature pads for credit card purchases. Once they have a copy of my signature they can put it on anything. Why would such a signature have any value whatsoever?
The actual article says:
"The three were found to be selling counterfeit software and of selling 'loose' certificates of authenticity - i.e. certificates not attached to computers - in breach of the licence terms of the software."
Thus COA's are proof of license, but they have to be attached to the computer.
Of course, you would also have to trust your compiler not to do anything "unexpected". You did hand
code that yourself in binary didn't you !
(If you have to compile your compiler the chain of un-trust just continues!)
How do you measure market share: based on pages downloaded? pages downloaded excluding 'bots? Bytes downloaded?
Analog gives me numbers that vary by a couple of
percent depending what I am counting.
What this really does is allow a practical 3-OS box.
I just don't know if my next system will run OS-X native and Linux and Windows in Virtual PC, or Linux native and run OS-X and Windows in VMWare. Almost certainly it will be an Apple as their HW will be needed to do this.
They dropped Framemaker for the Mac. (Never had an OS/X version). Do you think they might revive their attempt at Framemaker for Linux (There was a beta once, but it never became a produce)
The best solvant I have used for electronics is Electronics Grade Ethanol. We used it for cleaning flux from PC boards on space equipment. It evaporates with absolutly no residues. (In the old days of removable disk packs I used it to clean a hard disk platter).
Warning: It is both potable and poisonous ( and flamable). The bottles came with a tax stamp.
(Although all things considered I'd replace the computers and just move the bits off the hard drives. In any case junk the keyboards and mice).
Currently register.com does not support adding
spf records in their DNS server.
If you are a register.com customer call their
support number (800) 899-9724 and ask to have
it supported.
perhaps enough lobbying will work

A feature phone is one that doesn't require a data plan.

I must be living in an alternate universe. http://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/ is showing 26 release critical bugs now. I've never seen it as low as 17.
The "Teddy Bear Virus" http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=desc ription&virus_k=99436
already spread by infecting the computer operator and causing him to e-mail everyone in his address book.

Tried it with Firefox and the browser froze. Works fine with Mozilla 1.7. Anyone else notice this?

24/7/365? maybe 24/365 or 24/7/52 (sorry just one of my pet peeves)
