"In Georgia, citizens were alarmed at apparent anomalies in the election results forgovernor and one of the state's two Senate seats. Both offices were won by Republicans in last-minute voting swings away from Democrats.
Causes for alarm included a serious malfunction in the voting software, discovered after the machines were packaged for shipment, which had to be repaired with a programming "patch", and the fact that the patch showed up on an open-access internet page. Hundreds of security flaws were identified in subsequent follow-up studies. There were also several election day glitches, including the loss of 67 voting memory cards in the Democrat stronghold of central Atlanta."
ever stop and wonder about the coincidence that Republicans have won all major elections lately?
actually he didn't. the cali economy is ruined for one very specific reason: a few years ago, the electric industry tested how free enterprise would work in their industry. the test was done in cali. electric companies were allowed to charge whatever they wanted for power, and the result was disastrous. at one point, a company was charging $9999 for one unit of electricity (whatever a unit is) because they thought they only had 4 characters for the price (they actually had 7). in addition, some companies were falsely claiming plant failures and malfunctions so that other more expensive plants would pump out the energy at higher prices. this caused massive blackouts. since energy bills were so high, many people couldn't pay them, and had to live without power for long periods of time. others "protested" the prices, and refused to pay even though they had the money.
this has left california's electric industry in ruins. it is the cause of the massive deficit.
kind of. there are 2 elections, the popular election and the Electoral College (which is the one that counts). the way it works, usually, is whoever wins the popular vote in a state gets all the electoral votes in that state.
what happened in florida is exactly why this system is wrong. when they stopped recounting the ballots, bush had a 637 vote lead over gore. so bush got all 25 of the electoral votes. a more accurate system would've given bush 13 electoral votes and gore 12.
does it bother anyone else that the corporation building and supplying these voting machines is "committed to helping ohio deliver its electoral votes to the [current] president next year."
that's exactly what ChoicePoint said to Bush in the 2000 election in florida. (CP was the corp that handled the purging of legitimate florida voters from the polls.) and -- surprise, surprise -- look what happened.
perhaps i'm blind, but i couldn't find the link that you posted. maybe you messed up your HTML tags. please be so kind as to re-post, with the requested link in proper HTML format.
no proof -remember Columbus? at the time there was no proof that the world was round. we're talking about long-term exposure. cell phones have only been around for 15 years, that's not long term. the only asbestos miners that got cancer were the ones who did it their entire lives.
the american right seems to be ignoring the recent production of the International Criminals Court (ICC). It is a global, impartial jury instituted by the UN, whose sole purpose is to bring to justice terrorists and war criminals. Bush has rejected to comply with the ICC, claiming that it interferes with our sovereignty and could be used against US military forces. It is ignorant for a nation to believe that it would be just in punishing a terrorist itself who committed acts again said nation, because of the obvious bias that every individual from that nation would have.
The only solution to terrorism was just rejected by the president. Dont try to tell me that there is no solution.
"you just implied that i support murder because i think that saddam hussien is a threat to international stability."
-actually, i didnt mean to imply that someone who is pro-war is pro-murder. i was trying to emphasize that the americans are not the blood thirsty militants that they are sometimes perceived as. i was trying to find a common ground between the pro-war and anti-war community, in that they both are (hopefully) against murder.
while you make a good point, i'd like to point out that the exact same response you gave could be politically reversed and used to respond to your own comment. the "you're just trying to be different" argument is unoriginal and so broad that it could apply to any individual regarless of intelligence, from the punkiest looking 8 year old girl, to the genius Noam Chomsky himself. also, your mention of Hot Topic leads me to believe that your resentment towards the punks is more social than political. though i will admit that a significant portion of the punk-looking-people out there lack any insight into the meaning behind their chosen life-style, just because someone looks or sounds like a punk does not mean they are a wannabe. all true punks and commies started out as wannabes.
first, claiming that this is an action of fascism a gross exaggeration, at best. Second, you're generalizing the entire anti-war community, claiming that their intentions are not to stop the war, but to protest bush, which is quite frankly a lie. the anti-war community has existed at all times in history, throughout the globe. claiming that their intentions are not to stop war is the same as claiming that there are no pacifists. third, you admit that the protests are being held with the appearance that their intentions are to stop the war, to this i ask "how do you know that their intentions are really to protest bush? are you psychic? can you see something that i can't?"
finally, i'd like to point out the misconception that the american government and the american people are one in the same. do not blame the american people for the war in iraq, the blame lies solely in the hands of those in power. we, as americans, do not support murder. we do not support this war. the american media is depicting this war as a "brave battle against tyranny and terrorism". buzz-words and rhetoric are being used ad nauseam, and have thus duped the lesser-intelligent population into supporting the war. please do not place blame on our people, we are a good people, who unfortunately are easily persuaded by our for-profit media.
"left-wing censorship" seems to be the common respone here; while that is exactly what it is, let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill. after all, it's just a game. have we become so immature and petty that the placing of a game under a counter rather than on the shelf is just cause to flame an entire nation? it's not like they're censoring media, a crime of which the United States is becoming increasingly more guilty. My second favorite news media source was shut down 2 days ago because of its opposition to the war on iraq.
Lets get our priorities straight, people.

This idiot governor...ruined our states economy

it was 100%, along with 100% voter turnout.
i agree.
the existence of the Electoral College is proof that we are not a democracy.
i think you're thinking of Katherine Harris.

between 1950 and 1995, the rate of breast cancer in American women rose from 1/50 to 1/8
the Electoral College is proof that we're not a democracy. lobbyists are proof that we're not a republic.
Arianna Huffington. read her book Pigs at the Trough
they'd be retarded not to replace their obviously inferior kernel with Unix. C'mon, hop on the bandwagon; all your friends are doing it.
this idea isnt new at all, porno sites have been doing that since the beginning of time

what do you expect from a nation that is depicted as nothing more than "the hitler country" by the hegemon.
