Facebook could easily develop a microtransaction API. $10.00 = 1000 credits. Buying something in an app might cost 5 credits (aka 5 cents), which is impossible to bill for via credit card due to all the fees. So Facebook can start keeping a credit bank, and apps could debit your account based on purchases you authorize. Facebook takes a 20% cut.
Ayn Rand fans should be horrified at the outcome here. Here is a businessman who is engaging in pure, free capitalism. Takes a lower quality product and sells it as a higher quality product. The government has no business getting involved in this man's pursuit of making a profit. If they don't like what he has to sell, they can take their business to another capitalist who offers better products and better service. Let the market sort itself out!
Got any proof of this "bullshit?" [...] So, go ahead and call it "bullshit" but let's be clear on who's trolling here without any evidence to back up their claims.
That is my opinion and I've stated why I hold that opinion. If you disagree with my opinion, hey... it's a free country.
And since you seem to want evidence, asking someone "Does everything have to be spelled out for you?" is certainly condescending (even if it were true, that's a rather rude thing to say to someone you don't know) and actually is more flamebait than trollish, so my apologies for that miscategorization.
Because if you read the blog post, the cookie he was referring to (that was set for 3 months) was NOT from Bing, it was from the vendor's website, after accessing it from Bing. So, unless you know how to clear your cookies, that cookie will identify you as a "Bing customer" and potentially give you inflated prices during those 3 months.
You are quite correct and if you read my original post I don't disagree with that at all.
I'm pretty sure there are some Firefox add-ons to delete flash cookies, and there's probably just a file somewhere in my profile directory, but I never think of it when I delete my other cookies. How about you?
I disable Flash storage except for sites I specifically approve.
would have to factor in wind resistance from the giant wings, but that's cross sectional area, I thought, that causes drag, so if you made the wings really thin...
If the weight ratio is too great, you could simply have two planes and suspend the pilot on a line between the wings.
Also, now that you know, and if you would consider getting Bing cashback at some point in the future, you'd be likely to check if the vendor was charging you more just because you arrived from Bing.
Does everything have to be spelled out for you?
I have no problem with him pointing out the discrepancy and calling Microsoft on it. That alone would have been a huge story. What is completely unnecessary is:
1. Your condescending trollish post; and 2. His overblown Bing bashing
Pointing out the pricing difference? Great catch and a good story. Claiming he's afraid to even write the blog post because of the Bing cookie? Come on...
Not just that but the site is unnecessarily fearmongering:
The problem doesn’t end there. Using Bing has tainted my web browser. Butterfly Photo set a three month cookie on my computer to indicate that I came from Bing. Any product I look at for the next three months may show a different price than I’d get by going there directly. Just clicking a Bing link means three months of potentially negative cashback, without me ever realizing it. I’m actually afraid to use their service even just to write this, because it may cost me money in the future.
(Emphasis mine.) It's as if he's saying his computer is totally tainted now. Why doesn't he just follow his own advice from step 4?
Step 4: Open a different web browser or clear your cookies from butterflyphoto.com in your current one. Go directly to their site and check the price. $699!
There! He knows that clearing his cookies solves the problem. Why all this bullshit about being tainted for three months and being afraid to use their service to write a bloody blog post? Does he think the "oh noes teh bing cookeez" are going to trash his blog and kill his hamster too?
So why don't you eat actual Sushi instead of Sashimi, with something like chicken if you don't like raw fish?
The more you know...... the less food you'll hate over pure ignorance.
Don't you think the GP knows the difference given that he specifically claims that sushi isn't as disgusting as raw fish, thereby putting them clearly into different categories?
The better your reading comprehension...... the more able you'll be to hear that whoosh sound.
No, but when the Japanese use European loan words incorrectly, they're wrong.
Good thing there are people like you to set them straight! Why don't you go there and try to make them comply with your standards?
Clearly you think that to claim something is wrong requires a personal visit followed by a lesson. Speaking of which, how did your education of creationists go? Did you set them straight?
In the Paypal case the paypal lawyers made that same argument ("users signed the end user agreement and license"), which the Federal judge negated by saying citizens can Not sign-away legally-protected rights.
Are you saying that being able to access Microsoft's Xbox Live network is a legally protected right? If I recall, the PayPal case was about being able to pursue PayPal in court rather than being forced to go through their convoluted, one-sided settlement process.
A large number of people rating MP3 higher than FLAC would then suggest that a large number of people chose randomly...
Please turn in your random number generator at the door.
In a sample size this small, you could easily see 75/25 splits without being able to determine that the results are not random. Remember that a random set is random from one through infinity. There's a lot of opportunity for 'luck' between those digits when you're only looking at a small portion of it.
If the sample size was small, then it wasn't "a large number of people" as the original person wrote... twice.
When I said my story a girl in the back popped up "You too? I did the same job at MY HS!". We looked at each other and I said "Go Lions?" she said "Go Panthers!". That is why after seeing the same BS we yanked my boys out of school at 5th grade.

Well, you fool. You made the classic mistake.
You grew up.
Don't ever do that.
He also got involved in a land war in Asia, but that's a different story.
Damn, in Slashdot time +2 on the comment_id column is probably half a second. Foiled again! If it weren't for those meddling anonymous cowards...
But without my excretion patent, then what?
I didn't know that sushi differences were part of a GP's medical education, thanks for clearing that up.
Your grandparents are doctors? Who knew?
It's just theodp's usual patent trolling:

SRSLY... Standard Resonant Simplified Laser Yield?
Micro Inductive Light Force?

While a million dollars wouldn't amount for much. It opens the door up for president.
Why would Obama be interested in this?

Like its partner city Philadelphia, Chicago is the City of Big Brotherly Love.

So you married her and now have two boys? :)
This Cochran guy is just pissed off because he didn't receive funding for his proposed warp drive.
You were in a long black tube in Bangor. The most memorable things were getting to feel a big vertical shaft and getting cream in your mouth?
All that homoerotic innuendo, and no reference to seamen? I am a little disappointed in you...
Who do you think was serving up the cream? He did say they exhausted their supply...
