I got linked to this site from/. some time, and I've since read a lot of the articles. There are lots of good ideas in here for making productive development teams.

And you can end up with Linux not being Linux, but Red Hat Linux being different than Novell SUSE Linux, Debian Linux and Mandrake, or whatever the case is. We're already beginning to see some of that with how they're taking snapshots of the kernel, where the kernel is and putting it into their distributions.
Could anyone explain that to me? This guy is explaining that people put KERNELS into DISTRIBUTIONS?
So you could control these "hyper-range" weapons from the ground, and with better accuracy than "any" ICBM. But you say this is not good enough for a commercial airliner?
In a modern aerospace engine the fan blades are operating at *above* their melting temperature. If something goes wrong there, you are almost certainly toast, yet you wouldn't think twice about crossing the Atlantic at 30,000ft pushed along by several million moving metal parts.
I'd probably take my chances with the scramjet (but I'd let you go first)
What kind of a city doesn't have a proper telephone exchange? Over here in primitive Europe (thats halfway between New York and I-raq) we have telephone company offices in small towns, as well as cities.
The Debian server compromises have had far-reaching consequences, it would appear. I executed my regular 'apt-get upgrade' this morning, and when I looked back I was running {$INSERT_FAVOURITE_NON_DEB_DISTRO}. That should keep the bastards out!
Just think, if they pry your gun from your cold, dead hand, you can just use those big horrible Motorola things as clubs. How's that for multi-function device?
Why does every new company or product have to invent a new word? "Aclerex"? What was so wrong with
"Wine Ecks and Sons, Est. 1832, Purveyors of Fine Software and Noted Not-Emulators"?
I think the control system manufacturers would advocate real-time OS systems to control nuclear plants and the like. They take a bit more than an "apt-get" to update, but at least there's someone to sue, should they fall over (which they do, every now and then)
"Google was the default browser for Firefox before we even signed the deal." - because in Soviet Russia, search engine browses BROWSER.
when you get back, I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it to your slideshow.

I agree with the parent. The moment HP stopped concentrating on brown sauce, I lost all respect. I'm switching to Daddie's.

Ob Doc Brown: "They've found me - I don't know how but they've found me. RUN FOR IT LINUS!
2.6.4? OLD-SK00L!
"Can't we use some of this incredible technology to shoot food at hungry people?
Or something like that.

There's no reference to blazingly high clock speeds, just computing speeds. Remember clock speed!=compute speed.
Computers can do that?
Priority 1: Create secure, anonymous, decentralised network
Priority 2: Get network reasonably functional
Priority 3: ???
Priority 4: Profit!!!
You can send HTML letters? COOL! Are you beta-testing electronic paper or something? I'd love to get my hands on some of that.
True, and at least one has become leader of the free world.
Yet again, you yanks have some catching up to do.

Borrow a wi-fi card and see if you can use someone else's bandwidth. But don't tell them I sent you.
Are they even using digital yet?

Perhaps the network admins should have a chat to Ernie Ball, and ask him how this worm is affecting his business/reactor core.
It's not that inconvenient, just run WC3 with WineX on your Linux box. A subscription to Transgaming, is cheaper than a license for WinXP too....
I wanted to agree, but I was too busy getting beaten for laughing at her.
Next thing you know they'll be telling us they can send TV over broadband wires!
