If you want ultimate pixel counts, check out the T221 22.2" from IBM. For $8400, you too can have a native QUXGA-W(3840x2400) resolution. Dot pitch is a microscopic.1245
Couldn't agree with you more about Thinkpads. However, make sure you get the prograde models(T series and A series). The consumer versions(R and G series) are just as crappy as Dellpads.
BTW, trade in your 600 for a T series with the 1400X1050 screen. You won't regret it.
Mozilla really is a superior browser. I had to use IE the other day and it was painful what with the popups, lack of tabs or tab group bookmarks, inline no searching etc. Mozilla does seem to suck up RAM though but that's a non-issue for me.
Also, as everyone knows, Apple is famous for not saying anything until the product is in trucks, and heading to stores.
Riiiight... Like the 17" Powerbook, FinalCut Pro 4, or DVD Studio 2? Apple is notorious for developing huge hype then taking forever to meet expectations.
MD was more in competition w/ DCC that DAT. You can't blame Sony for trying. Although, being geek, I do agreee that it's lame. I think the IBM quote on Open Source sums it up best: agree on standards, compete on implemenation.
Given the fact the the Apple SuperDrive uses DVD-R, I think you are safe. At least I hope so since I have a SuperDrive in my TiBook.
Not sure I agree. As I read it, unboxing concerns itself with primitives and their Java wrappers(int, char, boolean, etc.). In that context, it seems apropriate to transform null wrappers to the primitive defaults.
When buying DVDs, be sure to get the ones that say "Anamorphic" or "Enhanced for widescreen". A letterbxed movie that is not anamorphic is still encoded at 640X480. Anamorphic DVDs have the image encoded at 720X480.
When buying a 4:3 HDTV, make sure it can handle the "enhanced" DVD. Good 4:3 HDs should be able to display the anamorphic movies without distortion.
MP3 sharing IS killing off the CD market. I am not a supporteer of the RIAA but it is naive to think otherwise.
The reason MP3s are killing CDs is because MP3s effectively replace what CDs have to offfer. You will always get the "audiophiles" that claim they can easily tell the difference between CD and MP3 but the truth is most people don't care. For most people, MP3s are good enough. This is why CDs are dying.
I don't think VOD will kill off DVD for the same reason. The storage density of DVD will increase faster than bandwidth capacity will for VOD. I have an HDTV monitor and a progressive scan DVD player hooked into a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver. My local cable company(Cox) cannot deliver the kind of movie watching experience and convience a DVD can. By the time they do, HDDVD will already be here.
<offtopic>I just hooked up my GameCube with component cables to the system and OH MY GOD! You haven't played Metroid or Zelda until you've played it Progressive and Dolby Surround.</offtopic>
The ionic breeze air cleaner is pretty handy. Although, admittedly, I got that through eBay.
- VGA: 640X480
- SVGA: 800X600 <- Super VGA
- XGA: 1024X768
- SXGA: 1280X1024
- SXGA+: 1400X1050
- UXGA: 1600X1200 <- Ultra XGA
- UXGA-W: 1920x1200 <- Ultra XGA - Wide(16:10 ratio)
- QUXGA-W: 3480X2400 <- Quad Ultra XGA Wide
So, basically, this thing has room to show 4 native HD(1920x1080) pictures at once, a la Brady Bunch style and still have room left over. That's pimp. They did mention dot pitch of .4935

166.66 million instructions per processor per second != 166MHz processor. I'm willing to bet each intruction takes several clock cycles to execute.
Not sure about that. Look at the 2nd week gross. It got beat out by Jim Carrey and Jennifer Aniston.

Two words: Alienware Area51m(or Sager 5670 for those who want to save some bucks)
If your Java books are getting wornout doing API lookups, use Eclipse: <Ctrl> <space>
They also have a PERL plugin.
Is it a Wang?
Isn't that what was said about DVDs?

wasn't the 3.5" floppy a Sony standard?
I wish Windows laptops would sleep and wakeup as fast as OSX. Takes <2 seconds to wake up. On my Win2k laptop, I'm lucky if it even comes up.

Guy with the side burns was Tank. As in, "I need an exit." His brother was Dozer. But I agree. That dude couldn't act his way out of Seaseme Street.
Which John Woo film used bullet time a la The Matrix?

As long as the shoe phone camera is on the top of the toe area.
You masterbate while taking a crap?

Well said. My current collection of DVDs was quickly getting unmanageable. We joined netflix last fall and never looked back.
These days, I only buy special editions and what not(LoTR, Futurama). I netflix the movies I simply want to watch.
... they want to save the world but all they do is smoke pot and play frisbee!
