You can't say that 80% of Americans are dumb. Give us SOME credit. Only 51% of American voters chose Bush! That makes use mostly dumb, not almost entirely dumb.
Right now, Wal-Mart is the largest non-government employer in the US. That also means that it almost certainly employs more pedophiles than any other employer. But it would be utterly unfair to attack Wal-Mart because it is the largest employer of pedophiles in the US!
It is irrelevant that the group at issue just happened to be pedophiles. The relevant issue was that the group had its constitutional rights violated. In the US everyone has constitutional rights, convicted criminals, Nazis, and even pedophiles.
To say that the ACLU defends pedophiles makes it sounds like the ACLU is in support of pedophilia. That is clearly NOT true. You know it's not true and you're lying every time you write it.
You are SUCH a moron. The ACLU is not defending anyone's right to have sex with children!!! Show me even ONE example where the ACLU defended someone's right to have sex with children. Just one!
The ACLU does NOT defend pedophiles! The ACLU defends Constitutional rights. There is no Constitutional right to have sex with kids or to view child porn. The ACLU would have NOTHING to do with that.
To verify it I did some searching on google. The only links I found were from anti-ACLU sites who repeated the same unsupported lie you did.
I could, I just wouldn't want to. I use Netflix right now and I rip and "time shift" movies to watch later. Apple's system would have some sort of DRM that would expire the files after a while.
I do think the average movie viewer would be annoyed that he (or she) would have to essentially install movies before watching them. That'd be annoying.
I'm beginging to think you're right though. Cringly pointed out that Apple has teamed up with Sony. Maybe this is Sony's way to get a jump start on its BlueRay disc.
I remember when DVD players cost over $600 (because I bought one for that price several years ago!). I would not be surprised if BlueRay players initally cost a lot too. Apple's $500 player would not seem to expensive then.
I don't know exactly what, but I think Cringly is right in that Apple is up to something with the Mini. It'll be interesting to see what it is.
That is just WAY to complicated of a system. Isn't Apple's mantra simplicity?
And if a HD movie could fit on two DVD-R discs, or better put as 8.5 gigs, why does BlueRay need 50 gigs and HD-DVD need 30?! If they can fit a HD movie in 8.5, why do we need an entirely new disc. Why not use the same discs and simply use a new format?
I know that. But Microsoft has been hyping the term ".NET" for SO long it would only make sense for them to buy it!
I never understood why Microsoft spent so much money hyping a word that wouldn't survive as a trademark. But then again, look at the terms "Windows" "Word" and heck, look at my signature!
The two competing HD formats are 50 gigs and 30 gigs. Considering DVDs hold about 8.5, that'd be either 3 to 5 discs. I don't think ANYONE would want to change discs five times during a movie!
And I think you're missing the point, right now Netflix delivers movies and you don't need to spend $500 on something to play them on. You can buy a cheap DVD.
The only "advantage" I see in this alleged plan from Apple are all the intermissions we'll get changing discs!
It'd work at delivering movies, but that'd hardly be HD format though.
And if that is Apple's plan, I don't see the point, because as you point out, Netflix is already doing it. And with Netflix, you don't need a $500 computer, you can use a $30 DVD player from Wallmart.
DVD movies are around 4 gigs each, ignoring all the bonus material. Even if the HD content somehow stays the same size, it'd still take days to download the movie you wanted.
And more and more broadband companies are imposing limits to how much you can download. One movie would easily wipe out most users entire monthly allotment.
Let's assume that EA dominates the sports gaming market. The problem for that is that it could kill off that market in the process.
Imagine that if only one music group controlled a genre of music, e.g., if only the Rolling Stones played the blues (it's a joke damit!). Overtime fans of the blues would get bored of the same content being produced and would stop listening.
This could happen here too. Variety in gaming helps the entire gaming industry by keeping people excited and interested.
Software (and business) patents are like crack to the status quo. What easier way is there to eliminate all new competition but to make all new competition illegal?! The quest for software patents will only end when software patents are valid throughout the world.

So basically Microsoft should start selling DOS again?

Every generation needs to have an irrational fear. I wonder what the next generation's fear will be. I'm guessing it'll be a fear of weather stasis.

Does Real f#ck up Linux systems in the same way it f#cks up Windows systems?!
The sliding scale for "cheap" stops at zero.

OpenOffice is real cheap. You can't get cheaper than free!

... the data shows no increase, but we should be worried because some doctor wants some press by scarring the masses?!
Seriously, I'm surprised that Microsoft isn't out to buy it!!!

GW really does lead an army of the undead!
...Intel confirms that its desktop chips and chipsets suck?!

Having only one standard will make it SO much easier to crack. Wouldn't it be nice if every bank vault had the identical combination?!

That running around and killing is more fun than actually learning?!
Yeah, Microsoft is in that weird position where they have to over-hype their products when new and then criticize them when they're old.
They probably have a huge staff of schizophrenics just for that turn around.
The Bush administration admits there were no WMDs and that W only wanted war because he's a religious fanatic.
Microsoft admits that Win9x was NOT a real 32-bit OS.
And IBM finally admits that OS/2 Warp never actually helped even one nun surf the net!
