I'm assuming your computers are networked. If so, why not just burn from one system, rather than move a burner from machine to machine?

Our houses, cars, TVs, ovens, toasters, etc... nearly everything we use on a day-to-day basis... contain "legacy" technology.
Our medical profession uses techniques that are centuries old. Why? Because they work.
Merely because something is old does not mean it's bad. My old external modem still works and is as fast as any USB modem. How am I harmed by using this "legacy" technology for faxing? How is my computer slower?!
There are times when old technology should be replaced by new technology. But, merely because it's old does not mean it's bad. We shouldn't be upgrading simply for the sake of it.
What used to be called "time tested" is now called "legacy". We live in a disposable culture where if it's a couple years old, it's worthless. No wonder our music sucks. It took the Beatles, the Stones, and the Who years before they make their best works.
"Still wonder why the people use an obsolete audio compression codec generation like MP3 or others"
Could it be because we want to use our music in portable devices?! I'm certainly not going to carry my computer everywhere I go. Nor do I want the extremely limited selection of portable devices that play Ogg Vorbis files. I want my music portable so I use MP3. They sound identical to Ogg Vorbis files AND they can be played anywhere.
I can't understand why anyone would want to cripple their music by using a format with so few choices for playback?!
Man, I sure hope you're kidding. Because if you and others in this forum are not, then our country is heading for the crapper.
If you think it's OK that American citizens can be held forever without being charged, that he is guilty BEFORE being proved as such, then what freedom does any of us really have? We now only have the appearance of freedom.
I don't know what's worse: The fact that shit like this is happening or that so many people in this forum actually support it.
It's getting to the point that I'm embarassed to be an American. At one time I could at least say, we as citizens have freedoms. Now with this story, that isn't even true anymore.
Does Canada need any lawyers? I'd be willing to work cheap?
What oppressive government has NOT told their citizens to "shut up because we know what's best."? Heather MacDonald is essentially saying that merely asking WHAT the government is doing and HOW they're doing it is traitorous!
It's people like Heather that helps you to understand how Hitler was VOTED into office!
If the atomic clock is what's actually keeping the time, then the pendulum portion is merely superfluous. It's like placing a bicycle inside a Hummer, then claiming that you've created a bicycle with the power and speed of a Hummer! No one would find that story interesting, so I'm perplexed as to why this story is any different.
When someone creates a pendulum clock that actually keeps time in a precise manner, I'll be interested. Until then, why was this story posted?!

Prices are set by demand. If a manufacturer/seller can sell LCDs for $1000, they will. And if they can sell them for more as TVs, they will. If they're forced to sell them for less when combined with a laptop, they will.
I'm always shocked when I hear complaints like this. Doesn't any school teach even basic economics anymore?! Why are such simple concepts so confusing for so many people?!
I've been waiting for digital rights management forever! Thank god I can finally get it imposed on me while watching TV too. Wow!!! Yippie!!! Kowabunga!!!
"All the mac users who do, did." But that's only because finding Mac warez are nearly impossible. Still, it could be because Mac users are simply used to paying too much in the first place.
This is purely a business decision of Office Depot. I imagine that they sell a lot of hardware and software to newbies (as I cannot imagine anyone with a brain buying from them!). They probably get a lot of stuff returned because "it wouldn't work."
By selling only certified stuff Office Depot can shift the blame to the customer. "Heck, it's Microsoft certified, if it didn't work it's not the manufacturer's fault and it can't be our fault, so it must be your fault."
Be on the look-out for a change in Office Depot's return policy to reflect this blame. Like a 15% restocking fee on all returns.
I use disposable email accounts. But I see no reason to go to a Disposable Email Address service.
Here's what I do. I have a real email address that I only use with my friends. It is not provided by my ISP in case I decide to move. For all other email I create extra accounts with my ISP. Every ISP I've ever had has provided multiple accounts.
I then use these accounts to buy products, post to newsgroups, or to sign up for/. Once I start getting any spam I immediately cancel the account and create a new one. I've been virtually spam free with this system for about 6 months now.
Tivo can easly compete with that by including commerical skip. I don't care how cheap a system is, if you cannot easily skip commericals it's worthless.
I really love my RioVolt SP250. The 8 minutes of memory made it utterly skip proof. I use it while jogging, mowing the lawn, anything. I was really hoping that SonicBlue would create one that used DVD disks. Having 4.7 gigs of MP3s would be (near) perfect.
No one turns down 11 million bucks due to "mild discomfort in his back"!!! He probably wants more money or wants it delayed. But I seriously doubt he wants out.

Wow, that's exactly what the Japanese do to foreign prisoners. I guess they don't care either!
"I think that "sampling" excuse is the biggest piece of crap."
For about the five years before Napster I bought about 3 CDs. Since Napster (and all of its brethren) I've bought about one CD a month. All of it from stuff I've downloaded online. And, all of it stuff you cannot hear on the radio, on MTV, or via any other mainstream outlet.
Peer-to-peer sharing allows me to hear music I wouldn't ordinarily hear. As someone once stated, the biggest obstacle to any artist is NOT sharing, it's obscurity. Peer-to-peer does a great job at addressing that problem.
"they are discussing fan funded production of the show." And while they're doing that Jack will make the producers a great meal while Chrissy flirts with them. But of course the whole deal falls through when Mr. Furley shows up!
Grow up people, shows such as Farscape cost MILLIONS of dollars to produce. There is now way in heck fans would EVER be able to afford it!

I'm not saying it's impossible. Surely it's possible. I'm just saying it will never happen!
I meant $250 per fan per SEASON!
You say each episode costs $750,000. You assume 20 episodes. You assume 60,000 fans. That's $250 per per fan per episode!!!
Furthermore, I seriously doubt that Farscape costs ONLY $750,000 per episode. Unless you have some proof to back that up, you're crazy!
