If you have or work for a small company with some items to sell, OScommerce might fit in perfectly. Any cart you choose you have to customize, the few hours it will take to figure out and implement the changes you'll need in OSC are not as daunting as some would have you believe. Maybe the coding is a mess, but I wouldn't know as I don't need to know, the cart just works. Whether it's beautiful or ugly code doesn't matter to the non-developer, we just want something that does the job, you get no points for how you accomplish the final objective. All I need to know is how to make it work and maybe add a few modules/features to do something different. The fact that the forums are busy is a good sign, other people are trying out the software and sharing what worked for them. You are very likely to figure out a problem with the help you'll get there.
Not every site has to be completely unique, sometimes you just want to make it easy for the public to buy widget #2 from an online shop. EL CHAVO!
Now if there's a nuclear attack im not going to care about any of this, but most likely a more run-of-the-mill disaster will come my way sometime, Los Angeles has some fires going at the moment and that Big Shaker is waiting down below. So I set up an old spare computer with a big HD inside a removable enclosure, like this one http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?p roduct_code=282701&pfp=SEARCH where I will backup the important data from other computers via rsync, mainly/home directories and mp3s. In case of emergency or if I'll be away for some time, I turn a little key, pop it out, and take that drive with me or leave it somewhere safe, all my important stuff can be lugged without having to take all the computers or waste time trying to get HDs out.
It's not too big and it will hold alot more data than a usb drive. Besides, credit cards, birth certs, DMV docs, etc have their own backup at the proper offices, those are the least of your concern. But all those emails, documents, and pictures you've collected, nobody has a copy of those. You'll appreciate having them when your whole life is going up in a flaming inferno! Just a thought, EL CHAVO!
I just saw an ad during a futbol game on Azteca America for these cards that sell you dial-up internet access by the minute, kinda like the pay as you go virgin phones, no contracts, etc. I'm not sure if anyone else offers this but it's a pretty good idea. 6 bucks for 500 minutes or 15 "unlimited" days, beats having to pay for internet shops if you're on the road and don't have an ISP.

Even more obvious is this sentence in the article:
"A known bug in the current version (1.3.1) prevents the restoration of individual files or directories from an archive at present, but that may be fixed in the next release"
I don't know about anyone else, but if I just want to restore one file the last thing I have in mind is to restore the whole disk, that's just bound to eventually lead to disaster.
"Um, honey, good news is I found that recipe you accidentally deleted. Bad news is I wiped out everything else.." Seems like almost anything would be better (rsync, mirrordir, cp)! EL CHAVO!
When the Democrats go so out of their way to denounce Nader in his quixotic quest for President, it just shows that even they don't care about the concept of Democracy, which goes the same for the Republicans. Same thing happened to Perot, the right gave him a hard time for "taking votes".
If our options are always going to be just two mediocre options, why even bother feeding this broken machine? I actively engage in political work but voting is really on the bottom rung in terms of effecting significant social change. EL CHAVO!
