    30 years ago = 80s, so yes we agree. Prior to that, not so much. And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B... helped bring attention to the sport in the U.S. Certainly, as we become more Latin, we'll see much more. But, the best thing FIFA could do for itself financially would be to bring the games to the U.S. Thus far, their marketing of it here pales in comparison to that of other sports.

    As an American who's spent a not insignificant portion of his life in the great white north (I also have family there), I don't understand why it is that only Canadians seem to bring this up. Americans have no interest in Canada ever becoming a state. You're our best trading partner, and have a long history of being one of our best allies. Many of us have even accepted hockey, but we draw the line at curling.

    Just my $.02...as another American, I'd have agreed with you about 30 years ago. But then along came soccer moms, and their kids have grown up, and another generation of kids playing have taken their place. I believe we're now at about 98.5%.

    A/C is overrated. You can adapt to warmer or colder climates to a certain degree (pun intended). I'm 56 yrs old and went running in 103F just a year ago...well hydrated, and monitoring my HR.

    Not exactly the Pentagon, and it wasn't today...the article is dated 8 May.

    The decision to increase security at U.S. bases was made by Admiral Bill Gortney, commander of the U.S. Northern Command, responsible for troops in North America, Warren said. The decision did not affect bases outside his region.

    It has nothing to do with their salaries, and everything to do with where most of them came from...ex-military cops. The vast majority of military police did not choose that profession, it was given to them because they didn't qualify (look up the ASVAB exam) for other work. That means that the majority of them are not exactly bright bulbs. What do these people do when they're discharged?...become civilian police.

    Now, this is not to say there aren't good cops. But, there are a lot more bad ones.

    I may have missed it, but I don't see anywhere in the article that it states the vehicle was illegally operated or parked. If my license is revoked, I'm very likely to have my wife or daughter drive me around...was there some knowledge that he actually drove it?

    Your "logic" is the same used to make us take our shoes off and limit us to 3oz of fluids at the airport. Neither of those are rational, nor is yours. Instead, you chose to live in a fear bubble. You, and your 100 nearest friends, family and neighbors, are more likely to die driving to work then ever be near any kind of terrorist action.
