They've been aware of that issue since I was in back in the 70s. Don't know how it's handled these days, but back then, you'd just go to see the doctor, and get a waiver. It wasn't a big deal.
Sure, I understand the difference. There's intentional and unintentional violations, and agree that they should be treated differently. And there's planned vs. in the heat of the moment rage.
I see your point, I guess I just disagree with the additional "enhanced sentence". Maybe because I grew up in the time of "sticks and stones", and having been bullied as a child I've grown some thick skin. Just my $.02.
Thanks for your input...I do appreciate opposing viewpoints.
"Here are some easy steps to avoid nasty trolls" is not victim blaming.
How about "Here are some easy steps to avoid nasty KKK"?
So, since we're onto the KKK discussion, I'm curious? While I despise them, I also am very much against banning free speech, and the idea of "hate crimes" still seems silly to me...something is a crime or it's not, we can't legislate hate IMO.
If the KKK wants to hold a parade down mainstreet, spewing their hatred, should it be illegal, and why? Opposing views would be welcome, as long as nobody was in-sighting a riot.
I see this as very similar to the whole online harassment issue, but with much more potential for physical violence.
You have the right not to be harnessed in the workplace. Companies don't like being sued for a "hostile workplace". But, you short of assault, or character assassination, you have little legal right to block someone from saying something to you or about you. There is no legal right to not be offended, but there is a constitutional right to free speech. And I understand that it's not an unlimited right, but to all of you PC types who want more limits on it...fuck you!
In FIOS areas, it's no longer possible to get a POTS landline.
Hmmm. My home, built in 2001, originally had a Verizon landline. FIOS has been available here for several years, but I never signed up for that (we use cable for everything else). When our power drops out, the old landline still works just fine. Are you saying that just new installations are affected?
OMG! I feel so second class now that I'm stuck using 65M DOCSIS. Whatever will I do? Really?!?
I was part of a telecommuting pilot program for our company back in the late 90s using dial-up. Digital bandwidth isn't everything. The largest resistance to accomplishing tasking was the frequent interruptions in the cube-farm in the office. So, even with a slow connection, I got much more accomplished from home.
Now, I'm "stuck" with the local cable company's slowest DOCSIS 3.0 at 65M. Our family stopped caring years ago. I'd gladly give up some if they'd charge me less.
It's a convenient political ploy to blame the IC when they are unable to defend themselves in any public forum. They can't release classified information to the public, while politicians can simply say..."not my fault due to lack of intelligence". Yeah, right.
It is like Afgahanistan in the 1980's the CIA got the Afghan's to fight the Soviets. then the USA left which let an entire generation become jihadists.
While the CIA supported and armed them, it wasn't because they were coerced into it. You've heard of Charlie Wilson's war, right? It wasn't just a movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...
I'll grant you one point, that people who I would consider to be racist tend to be far right, and vote that way. Other than that, I see most of your argument as baseless. You can't drive a car, buy a beer, or take out a library book without ID, and one should be required to vote as well. That said, I know there have been some poorly veiled attempts to inhibit voting by blacks by a few jackasses, and those people should be thrown in jail. But the typical response from the left is that this is a coordinated party position, which is simply a thinly veiled attempt to spark more racial discord, and garner more votes for the left. There are extremists on both sides, that doesn't make it a party position.
Yes, there's a big difference. But to those natives, the pilgrims likely appeared somewhat magical. There was a huge gap in knowledge between them. If we were able to bring someone from that time forward to today, we would appear magical as well...cooking with out fire, driving cars, flying, talking with people who aren't right there. And in another 500 years, we would be in a similar position. Things you can't imagine now, will be possible.
I know what Germany pays...I lived there for six years, and am well aware that they generally have a better system. But, I'd argue that it's mostly not due to the funding.
Don't know where you get "You sound so upset". It's baseless.
Obligatory Back to the Future reference.
it's time for a new branch of the military.
Maybe you mean a joint command? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U...

You're almost right, but...
The United States Cyber Command is a joint (all armed forces) operation. One guess where it operates.
Credit cards have explicit legal protections for consumers.
As do banks, just not the same protections. Your bank account is FDIC protected up to $250k. So, which has better protections, and why?

My missing mod points to you sir!

Thoughts?
Disclaimer: IANAL

If you want to know the state of the art in visual recognition, you should look at military applications: robot soldiers and autonomous drones.
Not so much visual recognition as remotely controlled, or using GPS and waypoints.
I worked with Charlie Brown, Ronald McDonald, and Dick Tracy all at the same time. Luckily for them, nobody would mistake them for real people.

I'll agree with you when the offense doesn't include things like DUI, or other such stupidity.
Sorry you've only had to wait 15 years. Many of us have waited much longer.
You feel old? Try having a three-digit account number!
(And who is this Toommy Choong guy?)
I'd take that over having a three digit age any day.

Where was he?...really? Do you know anything about him? He's pretty well respected by both D's and R's.

We really need +1 Idiot of the Week, so we can all have a good laugh
