It's a common problem here in the US. We apparently value long hours more than how much actually gets accomplished.
Anecdote: I had a coworker who was great at fixing software bugs. He'd correct a bunch of problems then take a long break, at which point the boss would start giving him grief. He fixed that problem by correcting a pile of bugs early in the week, and then submitting them periodically for the remainder of said week. He still got more done than anyone else, and probably only worked about half of the actual time.
Yeah, tell that to my mother-in-law. Oh nevermind, you can't. She died of a stroke because she stopped taking her BP meds because she thought they were too expensive...even though my brother-in-law, who just happens to be a Harvard med school grad, was paying for them.
Yes, big Pharma sucks. That doesn't make the BP numbers and mortality statistics a conspiracy.
390 billion divided by 2.124 million sq miles (size of Amazon rainforest) = 183615.8 trees/sq mile. 637765000000/183615.8 = 3,473,366.6 square miles needed.
So, if this is true, than it just doesn't matter what we do, and we may as well simply enjoy ourselves until the planet burns. There'd be no point in putting ourselves through all the hassle of conservation. Buy that gas guzzler now...have fun! It'll be like getting a BJ on a plane that's about to crash.
Well, the Chinese just had a robot pass a medical exam. If there's not enough tech in that to make automated weaponry, I don't know what qualifies. https://www.msn.com/en-us/vide...
Unmanned doesn't mean robotic. The Reapers and Global Hawks mentioned in your linked article are all controlled by pilots (yes, real pilots) on the ground.
As for your contractor comment...WTF are you talking about? And I'm saying that as a contractor of 35+ yrs.
I'd love to see Google take their ball and go home too. But as much of a monopoly as they are, they don't quite have a total lockdown on search. And, competition is a good thing.
Not by US standards. People need to get off of this soapbox. And sure, both sides take individual policies to the opposite spectrum. And yes, we all know that most all American politics is on the right. But, you can't apply the global left/right to the politics of the US...it's not relevant to the discussion because when Americans talk about left/right, it's only relative to the U.S. range of positions, and the Ds are left of the Rs. You'd have to come up with another phrase ridiculous phrase to distinguish the ultra right from the central right to the leftist right.
In general, that's a good idea. But, you often end up making compromises that appear, and negotiations and deals end up leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth. That gets people looking for revenge, and then you have what we have now...tribalism, and a feeding frenzy by the media for more because it brings in more revenue. If we can't learn to view those on the other side as something other than "libtards" or "teabaggers", then I have little hope that we'll recover from this without blood spilling eventually.
You have to be careful when you read these things. Companies like mine donate to any candidate (often on both sides) based upon their voting record in regards to how it helps the company. A single donation could be perceived as supporting one side, or spun that way.
California Pizza Kitchen brings in the most liberals, with a score of 146 on the lefty index. O'Charley's-a chain located throughout the South and Midwest-and Cracker Barrel have the most conservative clientele, scoring 121 and 118, respectively, on the righty index.
I think anything with "California" would be far left by default...and then there's "Cracker"-anything on the right.
This state of affairs is really is nobody's best interests except the

The media gains because the tribes love to watch drama. It's the same reason you only hear "news" that is unusual, and not about the six hundred murders that happened in Detroit. They only care about selling advertising, and tribalism supports that.
Not disputing anything you said, but the summary and you both mention growing efficiencies w/o mentioning the fact that vehicles of all kinds have been getting more efficient. Now if one tech is improving faster than the other (is there evidence of that?) than we should point to that. Otherwise it seems to be a bit of a "so what?".
Okay, I'm calling BS. TEL was used to boost octane and allow for higher compression/performance. If, as you claim, it was only included due to patent, then other petro companies would have used something else instead of paying those patent fees that they didn't profit from.
This kind of thing is a cash cow for politicians even if they have no intention of going after the firms. All they have to do is mention the possibility, and the companies will scramble their lobbyists. We need term limits, and we need to get SCOTUS to stop claiming that corporations are people, or this shit will never cease.

You case doesn't make the others wrong. Low sodium (hyponatremia) can occur after long endurance activities.
You don't need an RN. Please google "how does salt increase blood pressure", and tell me again why everything there is wrong.

I'm not at all happy about it either, but what are you claiming is illegal?

This gets into the misuse of other words like hacker and drone and Kleenex. Answer: Nobody gives a shit, an the public is still gonna call em robots.

I see this as a political strategy.
1. Comment on how Business X is screwing the little guy, and state that legislation is needed.
2. Open the door to the lobbyists
3. Profit.
You don't need to actually go through with #1. The threat along brings it home.

How's Tim Allen doing these days?

The 19-year old Acura has the rest of the safety features you mentioned minus the traction control (meaning it's actually a lot more fun to drive!)
Can't the TC be turned off in the Lexus? I don't think I've seen any vehicle with that feature that didn't have a button to disable it.

Okay, I was wrong, I'm sooo embarrassed. :P
"42% of Americans Under 8 Have Their Own Tablet"
The title should have been:
42% of American Parents are Morons.
