What other military powers would have used the same technology (if they had it and nobody else did) either before Hiroshima or after on their adversary?
Would Japan have used it (ie. at Pearl Harbor)?
Would Germany or Russia or China have used it?
Not justifying or down playing the deaths of innocents...IMHO Hiroshima was a hard earned lesson for everyone (even those that had nothing to do with the conflict). If that detonation had not taken place, what would have?
So it would make it illegal to have video surveillance too? If you can SEE the keyboard and the keys being pressed...Other than key logging being cheaper and the obvious format differences, what's the difference?
While I enjoy reading these books...I can't help but cringe at the thought of the people that read one of these books and think they're a forensics expert now. There's a hell of a lot that goes into being a security guru, let alone dealing with compromised systems in a way that taint the evidence.
There's pretty much always a way to compromise a machine and likewise, a way to counter.
Obligatory: Microsoft just gives us more choices.:)
So, they've written an app whose purpose is to perform a DDOS...How long before a trojan or a virus takes control of this app and make it go after someone else?
If the app is trusted by your local firewall, getting a connection out to wherever you want it to go wont be an issue...
In the LCD screens I've worked on, they use a little module called a Voltage Inverter which is DC powered and outputs high voltage at around 50-100KHz. Supporting document : http://americas.kyocera.com/kicc/Lcd/notes/inverte rs.htm It works on the same principal as a fluorescent bulb, but not the same specs as a the shop style bulbs.
Another point to make is that the phosphor in a CRT is meant to be responsive, while the phosphor in a light source is primarily meant to be bright.
"Want to send humans to Mars? Great...dream up a...reason"
Dreamed up reason(s): Science and exploration. You mentioned that we need to come up with a solution that keeps people alive in extended space missions...If we launch such a mission and develop such technologies then we will have the push for a Human/Mars mission to thank for it.
True, robotic exploration could probably get us what we need from Mars / Saturn / wherever.
I believe the mission is not just about finding what we're looking for, but also about getting to the point where we can survive without the Earth or it's resources. Would be nice...
With the 9 months worth of between planet flight time? Sounds a bit like my "Starfield" screen saver...It'd be cooler to have a Virtual Trip ON Mars...:)
PS. Nice how M$ makes IM/Hotmail integrate into everything...ie. the online support (remote access) system with no support for any other messanger/mail service other than IM and Outlook.
I had a Nitrus fail after 93 days...They wanted to charge me to replace the drive - price was close to the price of the original unit...
I didn't realize they only had a 90 day warranty on their products when I bought it...Now, I will never buy another one of their products again. I mean really, a 90 day warranty!? I'll stick with someone who makes a product that has good enough quality that they can stand behind it for at least one year, preferably 3 years. What good is a product if it doesn't work after 3 months?
Perhaps...Is your case aluminum? My aluminum case gets warm. The drive heat is dissipated through the contact points...And any excess heat collects at the top of the case and is passed through the aluminum shell. My old steel cases, however, did not shed the heat very well.
It just seems silly to wrap a good thermal conductor in an insulator.
LOL, perhaps it's for acoustics? The/. article about the wooden speaker cones formed using Sake pointed out the excellent acoustic properties of wood...Could enhance the fan/hdd sound!:)

Like how and why some patents have been awarded.
The image that triggers it is an inverted picture of Bill Gates playing cards with Sadam, Satan, and Celine Dion.

Casue it's usually an XJ-42-RED coverup...Works like this: Plan a DDOS...Post an article on Slashdot to cover it up...

Perhaps .torrent would be the way to go. Then we're all sharing in the bandwidth burden.

I am counter patenting 'IsToo', and am going to enlist WTF in response!

Please post the .torrent. TIA!
And I thought we were considered "round eye"...not "cracker"...
Was I the only one who read it that way?
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they arn't out to get me!
Agreed, she makes delightful pastries!

Side note: they don't mention the warranty duration in their userguide...And I couldn't find anything specific on their site about their warranty on this new product other than: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/warr

I'm glad I did, Western Digital rocks...My WD2500LD (Super Linear Accelerator Edition) drive with Fluid Dynamic Bearings and 64Mb Cache kicks ass.
My load time on Half-Life is L337!
James Gosling "On The Sun"...Cool, first man on the moon...then robots on Mars...Now we got a guy named James on The Sun....Amazing.
How does it smoke?

Wouldn't the wood covering just act like an insulator?
Now, if they made one out of concrete - Fred Flintstone style - I'd be really impressed!
