  2. Re:Has anyone upgraded from Athlon to Athlon XP? on Intel To Redesign PC With "Grantsdale" Chip · · Score: 1

I have to agree. My 2 or 3 PCs are on a continual SLOOOW upgrade path where the stragglers fall off the back-end and into a friend or family-members PC to make it better. It's a symbiotic relationship as they need me to upgrade their old-n-busted as time passes and it affords me an excuse to go out and get new-hotness. When a MAJOR over-haul is required, I'll usually look into what is coming around the corner and try to get yesterday's State-of-the-Art that I feel is most-likely in step with coming changes. You win some (chose DDR over RAMBUS) and you lose some (T-Bird board wasn't AthlonXP compatible) If money is not the determining factor, I'll upgrade my Mobo with my CPU (always nice to recycle RAM, tho, when possible)

My friends and I discussed this and we determined that any one of us would be better equipped to pull a trigger on someone in a tense situation than if we had not played hours of FPS games. That doesn't mean that I would HIT what I was aiming at, but we all agreed that exposure to virtual situations would make it easier to pull the trigger on a person in a real situation... Having said that, I DON'T think any of us would be able to deal with the psychological impact of actually shooting a person in the real world any better (or worse) than someone who has never played a FPS. Very NON-scientific, but it's my opinion anyway. . .

I bet he would have given up on this and it would have died a quiet death if his opponents/enemies had not made such a big stink over it. It would seem that he gets more pleasure from rubbing Minsky's nose in it than he would have EVER gotten by people taking it seriously and maybe actually WINNING it... I would hardly call Cartoon Network obscure. Everyone with basic cable has heard of them, and those of us with non-food-stamp cable get it without exception. . . I still can't believe that people are continued to be shocked and appalled by Lucas' next moves. He's gonna do what he wants with his legacy, and we're stuck with the choice of watching or ignoring. My PERSONAL philosophy is that it's pretty cool if you don't try to take it so very literally (and dissect it with an electron microscope). E.G. Go get Ep 1 and Ep2, smoke a HUGE fatty and tell me it wasn't cool... They have LIGHTSABERS! C'mon. . . (PS - I'm an adult, not a 12-yr-old fanboy)

I wish I had an easy answer instead of just more doubt / cynicism, but I think the harsher sentences should be reserved for potential/actual harm to humans and physical structures.
