    The pin is a seperate 4 digit number which is told to you. You need to enter it in the swiping machine (which isn't used to swipe but 'slid into' the card).

    Unless 'All American' tablets are in fact being manufactured in India, there is no outsourcing going on.

    Who modded this insightful? This is anti-informative, whatever that is. US doesn't 'outsource' drug production to India. Indian firms read patents and create generics from it.

    Btw, I have lived in Europe and USA (California, to be exact). People are mostly nice at both places. But they will treat you like an equal only if you are white.

    You know, sometimes, people really are paranoid and really nobody is out to get them.

    And GP lists everything that is correct for majority of people who grew with him reading slashdot and evagelizing free software. I love FSF and have always believed in what RMS says (I even supported GPL 3 when Linus lambasted it). But until that vision becomes reality, for which I work on weekends and on nights, I still need the food on my table - for me and my family! And for that I need to work. And guess what? Windows 7 gets work done.

    Yeah, and moderators can mark me down. I post as AC generally anyway. This post is under my user-id so you KNOW that am a real person in a different country and a different culture with same experience as GP.

    GP is part of the problem. For people like him/her, it is not about good code or bad code, it is about 'my way or the highway'.

    Calling someone "factory factory factory guy" without any basis is how you get mod points on Slashdot without being correct. For all one knows the submitter might be exact opposite.

    Just a nit pick. Algebra was largely invented in India and then transferred to Arabia via trade routes, where it was preserved while India dissented into political turmoil.

    Hi Linus,

    I have grown idolizing you and what you have done, probably as a side effect, in making accessible my passion to me. I am deeply interested in system level programming but I am confused about its current status. Linux is stable. Unix is unix. And windows might become less popular due to UI changes. Most people haven't even heard of Plan 9.

    Do you see any exciting new problems facing the academic area of computer systems? Any itch that Linux kernel is not good enough to scratch (due to pristine design decisions, for example)?

    I am not hinting towards Hurd, in case you thought so.

    Once in a while I come across something that I know a little about, and then I wonder if everything I ever read and took as a wisdom was written but ignorant people on Slashdot.

    Yeah I know... am I new here?

    Have you ever been to China? Have you ever seen the code they run? Ever seen FORTRAN in Chinese characters? You think they should have learnt English first?

    And you a foreigner! Really... I bet an Indian/European who already knew the Latin characters before he/she heard about JavaScript. There are billions of people who don't know Latin script and you are asking them to memorize it.

    Just like that.

    How many Chinese characters have _you_ memorized? How many Arabic? I am an Indian and have yet to memorize Urdu/Persian script, my grandfather's mother tongue.

    1. Writing code
    2. Being able to read code AFTER it has been written?

    Sheesh... Most people in this world already face the problem you are talking about when they see everything written in English. And they are trying to fix it!

    PS: Hopefully Slashdot fixes its commenting system. Months have passed since I posted anything and it is complaining that I have reused this form already!

    Look, I am all for fair reporting news. But there literally thousands of heinous murders happening in Mexico everyday. Get some perspective.
