it's based on what you see or get from it. For me, 95% of modern art is just crap. I don't get it, don't want to, looks like a waste of time and that the person was making it up as they went along. But occasionally something comes along that just works. Can't say why, but it does because it hits on multiple levels. Like a Pun wuth multiple readings. Whereas "normal" classical art always looks good, but the superior items don't have quite that emotional impact.
We could debate this all day. Why do fools pay millions for comic books? coins? classic cars that don't perform as well as modern cars? Everyone's got their thing.
Those big, ornate, gold painted frames are actually quite heavy on their own. If you ever get a chance to heft one, you'd realize that hollowing it out and replacing parts of the frame could be done and not be noticeable.
I think it would have been more interesting if it had been crosscut shredded, with confetti coming out the bottom. also, the bottom half of the frame could have popped open to display the shred.
This. I get my haircut at a place down the street, cheap place run by Chinese immigrants, been going there for years. Employees hardly talked to me, but I didn't care since I just wanted a haircut. When I last changed my job, I played a little trick- I'd been reading about this spying. Told them I was working out at Edwards AFB in the network security. It's near my job now. Suddenly, they started trying to "introduce" me to women they knew, and being ever so nice. It was seriously odd. It only stopped once I told them I'd changed back to my old job.
Yeah, those terms in the yearbook. I would guess at some point in the future "have an awesome summer" will be determined to actually refer to high school meth use.
This is high level power politics. His response did not matter. If he's emotional, he's out of control. If he's calm and reserved, he's an ice cold judge with no feeling for the common man. All these things are just tools in the political toolbox.
What I would expect is an acknowledgement of the seriousness of the crime, a call for complete investigation, and a statement that he is innocent of the charges.
1- Urban dictionary definitions are unreliable. Hell, one of them mention Kavanaugh by name. The odds of that not having been written after the current debate are infinitesimal. 2-I'm not reading that seaworld bit, but I'm guessing it's something about hating seaworld. which most "reasonably intelligent people who don't base their opinion on one movie" don't hate. Unless you hate animal rescue. Plus, it's contrarian. Contra views either involve overthrowing Daniel Ortega, or winning at a mid 80s video game.
Just as I was annoyed at Google blathering on about Trump's election to staff, I'm annoyed at a facebook exec supporting being in this hearing supporting anything. Your jobs isn't politics. It's crappy online nonsense.
Well, there are efforts to get more men into teaching, childcare and nursing.
The refuse collectors thing is an interesting one. It's a physically demanding job so there is some natural limitation, but also because it's a low pay unskilled job it's very difficult to get anyone interested in it. The best option seems to be to look at more desirable jobs and expect that as equality improves there it will improve elsewhere. Obviously if this doesn't work we will need to think about what else needs to be done.
The problem with this line of thinking is "oh, this doesn't work, we will need to think about what needs to be done" never involves allowing that the original concept was a bad idea. In other words, if this doesn't work, nobody will seriously ponder removing the law. They will simply increase the requirement to two, or five , or even all board members.
So why not two? for five? Heck, women make up 2/3 of college graduating classes now, why not legislate 60% female boardmembers? That whole "don't let the door hit you on the way out" was childish when conservatives said it, and it's childish now with you saying it.
But you're not overcoming the obstacle. Forcing someone into the slot results in them becoming the "token boardmember".Don't pretend for a moment that won't happen.
You sound like every deluded fool I backpacked around with in my twenties. Every difference from what they knew in the US was the best thing ever. Instead of seeing the sites and making judgement on what they knew versus what they were experiencing. "Oh, look how they slice their bread. SOOOOO much better". "Oh, look how cute that street layout is. it makes SOOOOOO much more sense.".
I agree, seeing the world is good. Saying the US is a hellhole makes you, well, just like them.
It's John's phone with a screen, which has been around for years,

Tell that to Meng Hongwei

How many times do you think you could say "I like beer" in a job interview before they tell you the interview is over?
Depends on the job. Brewmaster, for example, would view it as a necessary qualification

Who's Barry?
BTW, I love terms like "repubtards" or "democraps",because it tells me I'm dealing with a fair, honest, even minded individual.
link to what you learned please.

Assuming he's innocent, of course.
Why would you lean 75 25 for women? Isn't that, by definition, sexist?
Good lord. Just back a 10 or 20 year limit on justices serving and be done with it.

cmon, admit it. You don't actually have a card that says "democrat" in your wallet, do you?
I never raped in high school. And If I had, nobody should care what I think.

Have one board member "identify" as female.
You left out the Unicorns. Always have Unicorns.
