For me, 95% of modern art is just crap. I don't get it, don't want to, looks like a waste of time and that the person was making it up as they went along.
But occasionally something comes along that just works. Can't say why, but it does because it hits on multiple levels. Like a Pun wuth multiple readings.
Whereas "normal" classical art always looks good, but the superior items don't have quite that emotional impact.

We could debate this all day. Why do fools pay millions for comic books? coins? classic cars that don't perform as well as modern cars? Everyone's got their thing.

This. I get my haircut at a place down the street, cheap place run by Chinese immigrants, been going there for years. Employees hardly talked to me, but I didn't care since I just wanted a haircut.
When I last changed my job, I played a little trick- I'd been reading about this spying. Told them I was working out at Edwards AFB in the network security. It's near my job now.
Suddenly, they started trying to "introduce" me to women they knew, and being ever so nice.
It was seriously odd. It only stopped once I told them I'd changed back to my old job.

1- Urban dictionary definitions are unreliable. Hell, one of them mention Kavanaugh by name. The odds of that not having been written after the current debate are infinitesimal.

Unless you hate animal rescue. Plus, it's contrarian. Contra views either involve overthrowing Daniel Ortega, or winning at a mid 80s video game.

Well, there are efforts to get more men into teaching, childcare and nursing.

The refuse collectors thing is an interesting one. It's a physically demanding job so there is some natural limitation, but also because it's a low pay unskilled job it's very difficult to get anyone interested in it. The best option seems to be to look at more desirable jobs and expect that as equality improves there it will improve elsewhere. Obviously if this doesn't work we will need to think about what else needs to be done.

The problem with this line of thinking is "oh, this doesn't work, we will need to think about what needs to be done" never involves allowing that the original concept was a bad idea.
In other words, if this doesn't work, nobody will seriously ponder removing the law. They will simply increase the requirement to two, or five , or even all board members.
