I'm surprised that conspiracy theorists on Slashdot didn't blame gnome team of faking the intrusion because they could not meet the deadline for the release.
But if you RTFA, the GNOME team did not state how their system were compromised. It could be due to the software flaw, but it could also be due to bad settings or cracked password.
Reminds me of an episod of The Simpsons where Homer puts the Santa's Little Helper (dog) and Snowball II (cat) in to a sack because he wanted to cross breed them out of bordom.
If windows came with SQL and Exchange server, Office suite and various other add-ons and softwares, it'll be easily as big. But that doesn't matter since you cannot download non-trial version of Windows from MS in the first place.
I've enabled automatic updates friends' and co-workers' computers and they still don't go through installing patches even with ballon reminders. And MS does not even have automatice update for Office products.
Because MS products are like crack. Why do you think that MS gives generous pricing to schools, teachers, and students? They want you to get hooked while you are young.
Seriously, we use Outlook at work and even though I presented cheaper/safer alternatives, they've all been turned down.
When ever there's an IP related article, majority of the posters post about the evils of IP. Yet, in this article, slashdotters are not supporting the reduction of staff at the Bell Labs even though BL leads the way in generating the "evil" IPs for the corporation.
If SCO sues the Feds, this would be a case where the use of eminent domain would benifit us all, although it would be more entertaining for the Feds to crush SCO.
I learned my share of bad words while in school. TV is just one of the outlet where your children may learn bad words.
I would not be suprised that the web would be the next target for censorship because there will parents out there who may feel that they need more time to watch the Superbowl then setting up content filters on their kid's computers. It will be much easier for them to write to their congressman requesting that they ban porn, slashdot, or any other offending websites.
What I'm trying to convey here is that one party is not really better then the other one. For example, if Democrats where in power, there still will a different type of censorship. For example, they may mandate that you must use the term "African American" instead of "black" when referring to a race.
Let's suppose that posts that you make offends me (I'm not saying that I don't like your posts, just using your account as an example). I can either lobby Slashdot to ban mikehoskins account or just set up my filter to filter your posts. I'd go with the filtering option because it does the trick without denying everyone from viewing your posts.
You're right, the evil Republicans replaced Powell with a body double controlled by the GOP because Democrats never infringe on your rights, such as Right to Sue.
How about shuting the fuck up? That's right, I said the word "fuck". Now are you going to prevent your children from viewing Slashdot or are you going to write to your congressman to have Slashdot be censored because you're too lazy to monitor your children?
As for the Superbowl, the network didn't plan to have Janet flash millions of people.
There is a differece between more secure and absolutly secure.

Pirated copy, thus "free" instead of free.
MSDN subscription doesn't count since they come with restrictions on use, just like the "free" version of windows you may find on the net.

Right you are! It's Mircosoft's fault that I overcooked my steaks last night.

I'll bet that they are stock photos of IT professionals using good open source softwares.
I doesn't matter since both parties can be bought with money.
The problem is with the mindset of most endusers.

But those pony tail wearing yuppies will have millions stashed away (at least the smart ones) so doubt that they'd care.
I didn't have problems like that on my Slackware 9.1 box. Did you try installing the plug-in without using the script?

Sorry, they have Flash player for Linux but you are safe from Shockwave, however.

How about bush slut?
How about not using the TV as baby sitter?
Mod parent up for prediction the death of the "Mode Parent Up" posts.
