Let's just skip that whole part about the huge-ass video screen being also able to watch you as well, okay? Unless, it's an isight, built right in. With a new remote.
It's about bloody time. It's hard to imagine, but newspapers will be modular, dynamic, constantly updating. Don't judge a book by it's cover: especially since it was something else five minutes ago. Some error in publication? It's been recorrected. Information becomes a wiki, constantly edited, by thousands of hands. The transition into paying for the content-makers, continues it's eclipse, while content becomes even less brick and mortarish.
This is News for Nerds, News for Dorks would be highlighting the film adaptation of DOOM or some type of other silliness. You are mistaking this site as a news for geeks, which would mean only technical news stories.
So to review:
Dorks: Care about crap as if it were good.
Geeks: Care about goods, passing on the creative shit.
Nerds: care about the good shit, even if it makes them look like crap.
Anybody want a peanut gallery perspective on this?
It's inconceivable that this would be a bad thing. I trwoo luv the film, and I have a feeling, that if done in the right type of way, it could be done brilliantly. Like Spamalot and the Producers, it's smart to choose a film that has massive repeat value, material that has that 'i could see this a million times' quality.
Other possible film to stage adaptations, in this vein, now that I think of it : Clue. Goonies. Lost Boys.
Bad stage adaptations of films? I don't think they exist.
So quotable.
However, if they screw up, they should prepare to die. Why are you smiling?
Bits? We should be so lucky. We didn't have concept of zero, so we made do with only ones. And without a zero, we didn't even have a decimal place. We instead had to come up with something known as the long count calender. It freakin' ends soon too, 2012. So, we'll have to come up with something else. Nice times.
Staff too long! They're digging in the wrong place!

Geocaching is a marriage of technology and the real world.
It's treasure hunting. The idea that there are thousands upon thousands of hidden capsules with little pieces of plastic, burned cds full of pictures, half used disposable cameras hidden in urban and rural settings hints towards a magical realm which is only available to those who are willing to look.
The possiblities and types of caches are endless. It is an excuse to explore your outside world is terrific. It will not appeal to everyone, nor should it, but it is a way of exploring the world that does very little harm.
Science is based on questioning. I think if you did an empirical study on the hypothesis you are an angry, pathetic idiot the results would be statistically significant.
The poster actually is postulating observation into conclusions, which is the first part of science. Attack the person for being wrong, by posting your observations, but berating someone for not having quoting an empirical study based on their conclusions? Missing the point entirely.
I think this study is limited since our understanding of IQ is limited. I'm sick though, of people misreading science. Science is a process, science is incomplete, science is about questions and science is not absolute! Never will be. That's what makes it so cool. Science believes only what it believes until better tests come along, based on better hypothesis. Encourage discussion, don't berate it. I hate IDers transforming schools into stupidass theoryville, but one thing they have right is that science is that questioning is essential.
WELDED SWITCH? You lucky bastard. Back when I was played the video box, we considered ourselves lucky if with a single, bendy strand of copper wire. And we were happy about it!
parent is accurate: an increase in signal does not end up looking just like normal cosmic noise, rather it would be a lot splotch of in-specific signals. I think alien SETI should still be able to identify us pretty damn well.
Human Beings differ. Just like other human beings, individuals nominated to the supreme court have points of view, some of these views are more sacrosanct to the individual than others. The place where Sandra Day O'Conner happened to be less wedded to ideas than others happened to be those issues that the court were ruling upon.
For some justices, state rights are such an essential part of their reading of the constitution, beyond the other variables in the case, this justice is likely to rule in favor of sate rights, for other justices the rights of the minority within those states could be more essential part of what needs to be protected per their own individual reading of the constitution. Invariably, there is an individual who weighs both sides, swinging, if you would, back and forth between the two issues, is this going to be one where state rights are going to be reinforced or the right of the individual. Hopefully, this reflects the facts of the case.
This individual is the swing justice. It's just a reflection of the flavors of humanity coupled with the zeitgeist of the people, the court and the nation. Justices are notorious for being set in their ways, if it was other issues being decided by the times or the cases, other individuals may be this swing vote.
Since we are on the subject, what options are there for black and white, solid palm compatible PDA, for my scheduling and txt reading needs? My experience with color PDAs have been poor, what with it losing its capacity for charge just as my tungsten3 was becoming useful to me. Like the questioner, what can I do for my urge to have a no hassle scheduling and book reading PDA needs, lasts long on battery, and capable to sync with a mac.

When I watch a torrented reality tv show, I have to sit through the product placement like everyone else. I believe product placement is far more effective than ordinary advertising. Does this mean I should feel less guilty about downloading shows whose advertisements are smart enough to include their products within the content?
I'm not convinced that people want to know the truth of what happened if it doesn't speak to their own specific zeitgeist. Why does it matter some what some joe w. schmuck dies in office does when there is a john q. public living the prototypical existence outside the hallowed halls of policy?
It is only through examining the artistry, the great works, the monuments that withstand the test of time possibly, for those are the things which were the attempts of that culture to enrich themselves. Perhaps instead of recording the email of politicians, certain random people's lives should be recorded, without their knowledge, for posterity's sake. This is how citizen-31234x lived their life: what does it tell it about their time they existed in.
If we start talking about politics, the action is already so many iterations divorced from reality, what does it matter for its record, except to document the folly of man?
It is the successes of humanity that interests me, not the constant, ever-increasing, astounding downfall of mankind. Give me the life and times of a random person striving for a good life, rather than a famous person 'striving' for a 'good' life.
The ancient, esteemedgreat library of alexandria was burned to the ground as knowledge literally turned to smoke, lost to mankind forever. Was it barbarians? Motivated by political revenge? Demanded by religious zealots? Accidental byproduct of an act of war?
Really, it's only the great works of artistry that need to be retained and remained, sustained and maintained. Historically, it's interesting to catalogue art, but politics? The everyday communications that lead up to the horrible decisions that lead our politicians to make the mistake of the daily business? We want records of this?
Perhaps the easiest way of keeping this knowledge at all interesting or inspiring is to burn it regularly, let people imagine what happened to allow such blunders or let apologists spin tales of delight explaining elegant solutions to how stupid people stumbled upon genius decisions. Conspiracy theorists or intellectual artistry can probably generate far greater truths than the truth will ever reveal.
It would save a great deal of money too, just having a delete key. If we are going to care so little for the decisions in the here and now, why preserve the information to be twisted by people in the future with their own biases and projects? We seem to care so little for truth knowadays, why should that change in the future?
He's done, he's finished. Kaput. He's still holding concerts though. If he was holding a lecture regarding theoretical underpinnings associated with his brilliant and fascinating career, it'd be worth mentioning, perhaps even admiring, but the man can't sing anymore. And he's holding concerts like it's something to be excited about it. That's pathetic, sad and is all about nostalgic image recreation rather than something contemporaneously worthwhile, hence the mockery.
is this the right room for an argument?
Bah, tickets smickets, the last time someone said it would be impossible to get into a broadway show, I was able to wait in line on thursday for about an hour and easily get tickets along with at least two hundred and fifty other people.
And this was the Producers!
Mind you, this was in 2001. In September. Two days after a little incident down town.
Okay. Maybe hoping on another major terrorist incident isn't a good way to go on the ticket front, either realistically or as far as karma is concerned.
I think I need hitting on the head lessons.
Any content that one would want to watch benefits from being watched full screen. Fan films, advertisements, home movies, mobile video phone clips (even though cruddy quality) as well as everything else sometimes looks pleasant full screen, when one doesn't want any other distractions, when one doesn't want be reminded that I'm watching this video on a computer. No one besides "pirates, pros and perverts" needs this feature the same way no one needs a internet browser, but being able to access the internet is something we should expect from our computers, just like being able to watch content without distraction.

clever, possibly missed daily show clips

Those funny clips that people sometimes share online
