  1. Cisco is just like the rest of them on Cisco Exec: Turnover In Engineering No Problem · · Score: 3, Interesting

They announced several thousand job cuts at the same time that every job board today lists hundreds and hundreds of 'openings' but when you apply for them you get a response that the job doesn't exist. And tomorrow is the same thing, and so on. Cisco is a half-tarded company like all the rest that doesn't know from one minute to the next what it's doing and none of the stove pipe orgs know what the other stove pipes are up to. Long story short they're going to appease institutional investors by massively cutting the US workforce and moving it to Asia. Quality will suffer and no one will care. Any day now Cisco will turn into IBM which is little more than an investment fund that buys and sells other companies.

Obama's response to Ebola is driven by politics and media not science or health. Doing this here would of course be condemned as being racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, immigrantophobic, and anyway, we're way passed the point where it's even practical to conduct face to face visits. So much time has gone by that we're in the millions of visits needed. No I'm afraid the best approach is Obama's approach which is to do nothing and blame it on someone else until it burns itself out.

No need to get all twisted up over quality and function. I was just on a major health insurance provider website and it's seemingly unable to produce lists of providers nor even display the right coverage that I have or even the plans I signed up for. But luckily logon was a bitch and the whole thing is clunky slow.

I think we're going with shitty is good enough, and if it's not, then fuck you anyhow.

  14. Every IT company needs to fire 25% of the staff on Outsourced Tech Jobs Are Increasingly Being Automated · · Score: 1

Start with a quarter of the entire workforce. I will bet you it makes zero difference given the shit level of quality, management, skills and customer sat they all strive for now. After that quarter is chop off another 10% of the remainder EVERY quarter. Go that way for 13 or 14 straight quarters until 20-25% of the original workforce remains. Half of the IT companies will be out of business or purchased by someone else. The other half will suffer a steep drop in customer sat but it won't matter since everyone will be the same and there will be no customer advantage in switching.
