I cannot tell you the number of times when I have thought that I have had low blood sugar, only to test and determine that I have high blood sugar. And over the years you can get so used to either high or low blood sugar that you don't even recognize it anymore.
One of the things that they tell you on day 1 of being a diabetic is to not trust your feelings. Trust the glucose tester.
I am a type 1 diabetic and wear a sensor 24/7 that monitors my blood sugar. I realize that this is a specialized case, but for certain things the technology and need already exists and are being used.
Umm... what are you going to do once you pick up your rifle and try to take out the government that has gotten all uppity but also now has tanks rolling down the street at you.
It was a fine idea when citizens had muskets and the army had muskets. But now the tables are not fair, and to get change you have to work from within.
How much of the money that I would spend on Beatles related things would actually go to the Beatles? I am willing to be almost none (especially since they don't even own the rights to their own songs.) Now, I'm not sure that Apple would get any money either. And I'm not saying that I will stop listening to the Beatles music that I own. What I am saying is that maybe if a lot of people don't buy the music then Apple Records will get the point and stop making these lawsuits.
As a huge Beatles fan and new Mac user I have to say that this is an outrage. Right now I am embarrassed to say that the Beatles are my favorite music group. iTunes has been out for how long? The iPod has been in production for how long? And only now are they deciding to bring this to court.
This seems like a desperate move to gain money and alienate fans. They have certainly alienated this fan. I can't see myself spending another penny on anything Beatles related, just because of this suit. I hope that others will do the same.
If it the applications that really matter, and not the underlying operating system, then is doesn't matter whether they use Windows or Macintosh or Linux or whatever, right? So that being said, does any of this really matter? If they really are all just the same...
Um...chunked encoding.
If you've got dynamic output, and don't want to buffer then entire content so you can generate a Content-Length header, then chunked encoding is for you. There's no reason for a server to be buffering up a potentially huge reply if the client can accept it piece-meal instead.
I can't take credit for this. Some guy earlier said it, but it really needs to be repeated. The importance of chunked encoding cannot be overestimated.
I have the right to buy that without having to buy all this extra stuff.
Bzzzt. Wrong. Their store, they get to sell any way they want (within the bounds of the law). You DO have the right to shop somewhere else, however, which is what I do whenever possible.
Yeah, they have the right to sell whatever they want. But the computer wasn't packaged with all of that stuff. Its not like I was trying to break up a group of products. I was simply refusing to purchase extra things. A store cannot force me to purchase extra things outside of my original purchase.
I understand that the employees are under pressure from their bosses to sell all of this stuff. But you work at a store that sells something that I want, and I have the right to buy that without having to buy all this extra stuff. If you don't like having to deal with customers, then perhaps you should work at a different job.
Basically, what you are saying is that customers should spend more of their own money so that you don't have to deal with the inconvienience of your job.
Best Buy is absolutely horrible. My brother and I were buying a new computer for my grandma. They had an emachine for like $300. I know that emachines have bad reputations, but I have actually been really impressed by the new ones. Anyway...they tried to sell us everything under the sun. Did we want Norton Antivirus? No...AVG works just fine. Did we want to sign up for DSL? No, we already have DSL. But that didn't stop them from asking another 10 times. Did we want MSN? No, she was already using MSN, why would she want a "new" MSN. It got to the point where my brother and I were taking turns saying no to them before they FINALLY let us leave with the computer. We were in the store for a good 2 hours just trying to make a purchase of a computer. Best Buy is absolutely horrible.
That is perfectly fine. Developers can do whatever they want. Let them have fun and do things how they want. But don't ever expect me or the masses to switch over to Linux. Sure, Windows isn't perfect, or anywhere close, but at least most of the developers from Windows programs are aimed at making something that someone will want to use, and pay for, and that shows. So keep up that mindset, and Linux will NEVER come CLOSE to catching up to Windows.

Washington Univeristy is St. Louis is a private university. They were trespassing on private property.
