Solid and just work? Seriously? Love the crash I had last week in Visual Studio, it claimed the error was due to a problem with the underlying code, which it turns out is simply the.NET framework.
Solid and just work is never something I would ascribe to Microsoft. More like, you job is secure, because no matter what you do, it is accepted that Microsoft could have caused your problem in the first place.
The thing that most people forget is that using Gparted is not really as useful as using mkfs. Reason is that the resulting partitions are given a fixed percentage for root space. If you have a storage device only, you may want to lower that percentage, which you can specify with mkfs -m. I have not seen Gparted give me that option, and on large drives you will recover many gigs of space.
That is annoying, but 4+gig files on a zip drive are asking for trouble anyways. Perhaps rar those large files into size-able chunks and par for redundancy?
Wow, are we using the same iTunes? I want no bloat, fast transfers. I want to be able to have multiple music libraries. I want to delete from my device after I listen to spoken word. I want a fast responsive app. I want it to just work. Turns out Linux has that in spades, but iTunes is the crappy bloated mess that drives me up the wall. I want it to just work, Apple cant seem to do that.
Why is it I dont see it as easy at all? Although I have an iPhone, i also have another device for music because dealing with Itunes is such a PITA. I dont think its easy at all, and its too slow and ad laden. I want to plug device in, copy a folder, and get out. If I want to sync, I want it on my terms, and I will use A) A music manger that actually is decent, such as Amarok, or B) rsync becuase then the source can be a computer, the internet, another USB devices, whatever.
Man I loath iTunes.
How would this work? Unless they knew where to look for the watermark, which is unlikely anyone would, there really is no point. However, comparing the original to the derivatives, it should be obvious that the derivatives came from your originals as they are similar.
So unless I am missing something, if you make 30 seconds of music and distribute it, by design it is its own attribution that you made it. Anything embedded key wouldnt be found, and if you were looking for it you would already know.
Why would you assume that there is WIFI? I have lots of places that I want to transfer a file like my old phone used to using a cable or the physical medium (sdcard). Typically, WIFI is not available, making the Iphone and iTouch a real PITA.
WTF? Why the hell would you have HTML in EMAIL? I read and send email from various devices, and the last thing I want is images and HTML because I want to read it and get to the point. Mobile devices drive home the issue: no HTML in email.

Nvidia driver. Absolutly no issue with KDE 4.2. Intel drivers maybe, but certainly not Nvidia.
Agreed, paying for texts in principal is wrong, but off the charts of stupid if you have internet. I want the damn thing off. Send me an email, open a chat, or *gasp* call me.
This would be easy to write as a regular web page, but NO they have to try and shove silverlight out in the wild yet again. Two missions accomplished in one shot. What will it take to make Silverlight go away? And yes, I am no fan of flash either.
Does it have to be youtube? I liked Cherub The Vampire With Bunny Slippers, available free at the time online, and now even at Archive.org. Writing was decent, acting ok, humor definitely..
Ok so I copy the user folder to another drive. Have OS give me a list of current applications. Reinstall OS, give list to package manager, it installs Apps. Copy user folder back into system. All applications and prefs are now as they were. Your dvd does that?
The other issues are worth talking about: All those things work out of the box on all my machines except the iPod, or in my case the iPhone. This is Apple's doing. But its the same for all the other hardware that doesnt work for you: the vendors are stuck in the notion that it only works with my driver mentality. This means that sooner or later it wont work with your windows install either. You are always better off voting with your wallet to support the most open driver architechture you can.
What are you talking about 3d gaming? I have Steam with CS and HalfLife, Unreal Touranament, Second Life, Doom and its derivatives,World of Goo, and so on. All are 3d.
Yep, I have come to this conclusion as well. Apple has done too much to make it miserable to manage (looking at you ITunes) that the lack of what I expect as normal everyday features push it too far.
Peacefully. Everytime I use Itunes it pisses me off to no end. Such a piece of slow garbage. I have a better music manager anyways, and if it wants to manage my apps, then why cant it just know what I have downloaded? (See Steam for a decent example of this). Thanks for removing my custom ringtones when you feel like it, or taking away features, while screaming ads about what ever the F. I have no idea how anybody can stand it.
You lost me at XP still trumps Linux on a desktop where people want shit to just work. No, No it doesnt. Linux just works, reinstalling and restoring linux just works, moving user and data to a different machine just works, thin client linux just works, and so on.
I know what I am running on my Linux box, I know how it "just works". Windows does not follow that model at all. Thats why the corporate model is to leave new software in a sandbox for a year just to see what other crap it will break.
Amarok has no problem at all with large collections. You are wrong. I did see some slowdowns using sqlite but I changed that to MYSQL (you can also use Postgresql) and its far snappier then Itunes.
Surprised no one said anything about this. Once people discover they can get money back while shopping online, they just might stay. Thats a big incentive for some people. Also, the technology they recently bought for travel is also a big deal.
I dont like Microsoft, I believe they are dumping on the market to grab share and then screw everyone eventually. They can afford to do this because they are not a search company at the core.
How about an entire php multiuser webbased OS?
I keep one going on my server, and it actually is very nice.
Solid and just work? Seriously? Love the crash I had last week in Visual Studio, it claimed the error was due to a problem with the underlying code, which it turns out is simply the .NET framework.

Nvidia driver. Absolutly no issue with KDE 4.2. Intel drivers maybe, but certainly not Nvidia.
If you were going to leave AT&T anyways if there is a problem, why worry about the consequences of jailbreaking it?
Agreed, paying for texts in principal is wrong, but off the charts of stupid if you have internet. I want the damn thing off. Send me an email, open a chat, or *gasp* call me.
But please let me turn this off!

At least QT gets single click right. Double click pfft. What is this 1987?

There are a lot more troubles with Hydro then that: Siltation, stagnation, rising temperatures, loss of usable land, blocked fish passage, etc.
OTOH: Tail in linux works fantastic and fast. A "Tail" function in Powershell is slower then molasses.
Here was my test:
Tail = less then a second
Powershell = about 5 minutes
Python (for reference) = less then a second.
