It was very much a social networking platform. You had groups of people in your network that you could share things like media with. The benefit over other social networking systems was that it had very fine grained control of who had access to what. It wasn't setup like a facebook to be strictly a social networking site so I could see where it could seem like something else entirely but it definitely had all the elements of a social networking site. It just worked completely differently and had many more capabilities like real time collaboration that made it more than just a social networking site. Unfortunately it was very unintuitive and buggy as hell as people have already mentioned.
Or maybe there is a difference between systemic voter intimidation and a couple of nutjobs standing in front of a polling place. You do realize the idiot with the baton was charged with a crime right? I see race-baiting as a tactic is alive as ever with the right wing.
I know this is a troll but what they hey it's Slashdot!
Since when is being a Harvard educated lawyer and professor, not to mention US Senator not a qualification? Which Presidents in recent memory have NOT read from a teleprompter? Were you born January 20, 2009? I know it seemed like Bush was just saying random shit at the podium but that's just because he has a hard time reading.
I personally believe that most, but not all, gay people choose that lifestyle.
You must have a vivid memory of the day you CHOSE to be attracted to people of the opposite sex. Personally I don't have such a recollection. I never even considered someone of the same sex. I didn't sit down and weigh the pros and cons. I just knew that I liked boobs. Considering your sexuality was purely a choice I wonder why you chose to be straight? What was the deciding factor? Do you ever have urges to have homosexual sex that you are forced to resist? Do you have NO urges but force yourself follow your decision of heterosexuality (as opposed to asexuality)?
I suspect someone's jiggering with the money supply, or just gambling that the market is inherently "Bullish".
There's no such thing as an inherently bullish market, fools.
So you would rather all investment be based purely on the availibility of gold? It makes no sense in today's economy for something like the supply of gold to dictate lending. The whole reason we got off the gold standard is because the economy can only grow in fits and starts when you have to rely on a supply of gold to back up the money. There is nothing suspect about the growth of the economy outstripping the gold supply. It happened on its own and it is THE reason we had to deal with deflation before we dumped the gold standard. Raw materials and labor can be readily available even the when the supply of gold is not because the two are completely unrelated.
Reagan, despite his onset of senility and subsequent micro-management by handlers, was right.
If Reagan was right why did he triple the national debt? If he was right why did he have to raise taxes after cutting them?
Reagan took down the USSR! Suck it up!
Give me a break! the USSR was self destructing with or without Reagan. Reagan had the chance to eliminate nukes but he preferred to have a useless, untested, and unviable system (STAR WARS) stay on the table. This is getting off track though. What does this have to do with monetary policy and the gold standard? I don't care if Reagan cured cancer, he was still awful for the economy and the debt.
The US used to have hard currency, but it stopped that, opting for fiat money, ruaway inflation and massive debt, instead.
Gold backed currency caused bigger spikes in inflation and was also responsible for deflation, the effects of which are much worse. What do you expect to happen when the economy grows faster than the supply of gold? As for massive debt, it is clear the cause of this debt is unfunded/defunded spending and nothing more. The taxing/spending policies since Reagan took office are responsible for 90% of the debt. Most of this debt was incurred during the Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr presidencies.
I know. Seriously, what kind of law enforcement agency actually tries to enforce the law? What a bunch of dicks!
I believe people are knocking the legislators who created and passed the law not the cops who are being forced to enforce the law. I have no doubt that this law will be struck down as unconstitutional. It is a clear violation of the 4th ammendment. As soon as a police officer picks up a U.S. citizen for nothing more than walking down the street without an ID we can be certain a lawsuit will follow. It's only a matter of time.
Maybe you should read the law? I've seen a whole ton of FUD from racist groups like La Raza out there, and none of it is based on any reading of the law itself.
Nuclear was made safe and there were many nuclear powered nations developing their own reactor designs that have never made a single nuclear weapon.
That all depends on how you define safe. A new nuclear plant is probably very safe operationally compared to older plants but what about security issues? What about disposal? Are those included in your view of safe? Right now we do not have enough storage capacity for nuclear waste. How are we going to build more nuclear plants without a place to store the waste?
I'm pretty sure you missed my point which was that some people here in the US are using one day of snow in DC to try to disprove climate change. Of course anyone with a brain knows that local weather != global climate.
Are you sure they aren't? What your calling Oil companies, think of themselves as Energy Companies, if they can supply our energy needs with economically viable renewables and save the petrolium crude for high profit boutique chemicals they'd do it in a heart beat.
Bull. Oil companies are heavily invested in oil. It takes a lot of infrastructure and equipment to extract, transport, and refine oil. They are not just going to throw all that away, and at the same time spend even more money on new technology. Also the last time I looked almost all vehicles on the road today are still using refined oil as a primary fuel and no company is just going to pass up that revenue stream.
TKIP and CCMP are both vulnerable to cracking still. People can go in, wait, deauth you, steal your 4-way handshake, and dump the file on a computer or cluster, and have your password quickly.
That's only if your password is weak. You still need to use a dictionary attack in that scenario. It is still a good recommendation to move to WPA2 though because this article, like the one before it, show some cracks starting to appear in TKIP.
And yes, lots of these mission critical systems are not supposed to be on the net, but they are in some form. Just recount the US power blackout from about 6 years ago.. that was a virus on a LAN that managed to get across a supposedly secure network and onto the "enterprise" systems.
That's a lot of black helicopter nonsense. The blackout had to do with a software flaw not malicious code.
I noticed this bug the other day but I thought perhaps I made a mistake somewhere. I am creating a Drupal site for photos and it has a dark background. I was just testing out the image upload and I used an unscaled image. Later I scaled the same image down to save space and re-uploaded the image. The brightness was noticeably different. It's actually very hard to tell in a lot of cases, especially with a brighter background. A dark background really makes the bug apparent.
You know what the real pisser is? There's some possibility that the warmies are right although determining whether human activity actually has an effect on the global climate will now have to wait until the debris from the collapse of the CRU and the IPCC is cleared away by real science.
What about NASA? It's more than a little disingenuous to attempt to debunk climate change based on a few emails at one climate research facility. The data is there, it has been there, and it isn't going away. Humans caused climate change and we're the only ones who can fix it.
Oh how naive you are of the American mind. None of that matters. It snowed heavily in DC this winter so of course global warming is a hoax. One day is all we need to erase years of data.
While this may be true there are probably more clueless newbs on the Ubuntu forums than any other Linux forum. This isn't to knock Ubuntu but it is the distro that most people tend to try first these days.
MAC802.11 supports creating an AP and since the standard intel wireless driver is MAC802.11 based you should be able to do this easily with the aircrack-ng suite.
Without Tor I'm unique with my fonts and browser plugins. With Tor I'm more generic in every category except screen resolution! Tor randomizes screen resolution but the res it gave me was very weird, and hence unique. I think reporting a generic screen res like 1024x768 would probably be more helpful than reporting weird resolutions.

Isn't the term "true religion" an oxymoron?

Voting isn't the only right we should be worried about protecting for minority groups.

I wish I had mod points. This is so true. C is such a huge step backward from Lisp. It's like going from a TI-89 to an abacus.

Give me a break. Calling La Raza racist just shows your ignorance. The real racist is Russel Pearce, the guy who wrote the law and freely associates with white supremacy movements.

The OS supports it. Some tools do not yet properly support the new hard disks.
Space is natural unless you're a bible-thumping redneck.
I'm pretty sure carbon was discovered already.

You gotta love projection. I'm sorry that you feel so badly about yourself.
